Garage Tech vs. Technoholic
Garage Tech: This weapon inflict % more damage if its level is lower than the hull's level.
Technoholic: This weapon inflicts % more damage if its rank is higher than the hull rank.

Ok, I'm sure that this is just another example of poor documentation. For both of these skills, we've been debating whether "the hull" in question is the enemy's hull or YOUR hull. Personally, I assumed that the hull was the enemy's hull, but I'm outvoted by people who believe that it's your hull.

So, if it's the enemy's hull, you'd want Technotronic late game, since it's help you to just delete lower level boats when using tier 5 weapons. However, if it's YOUR hull, then you'd want Garage Tech "IF" you intend to stop at tier 4 weapons, since you'd be getting +40% damage when using tier 4 weapons on a tier 5 boat.

Unfortunately, since there aren't any crew respecs, it's impossible to test this without committing to the skills. Anyway, this was just a rant. Carry on.

Of course it's your hull. Analogous to Small Ship helmsman skill: "All weapons damage if hull rank < Captain's rank: +20%"

So if you're in a T5 boat, unless you have complete maxed out crafts on T5 weapons, a T4 weapon (cannon) will get you equivalent or more damage than a T5 weapon if you have garage tech maxed out on your crew (the real advantage being cheaper repair costs). Also, correct me if I'm wrong, it seems if you use T5 weapons on a T5 boat that there are no crew or helmsman skills that will help the damage as it's neither above or below your hull rank?

I've tried doing some parsing with it since we now have a way to respec, but the damage numbers on the same type of enemy are so all over the place it's almost impossible without spending 10 hours getting some really good averages.

It seems, going by this logic that if you were going for pure a pure damage build, the best way would be to have a T4 boat with T5 weapons to take advantage of Technoholic (and the appropriate, weapon specific crew skill upgrades). Early access and all this all seems kinda silly to have such a weird sweet spot bubble.

Anyone have any input on this before I spend 2 million medallions respeccing my entire crew?

dont forget about the small ship perk(if capt lvl higher than ship=more damage) so that with technologist and lvl 5 guns on a boat lower than your capt lvl (eg anchovy, capt lvl5)atm is more damage BUT the amount more damage a bardock can take while giving it it will out last the build with the highest dps
