Been a few mentions that it's not working for them as well, so presumably still is borken. Try reporting via in-game Feedback.

Have you tried dredging?

I think the first coordinate is a wreckage that will give you a lot of food and water and the scond isa dredge site.

You can also try to quit and rejoin the session, I have had some wreacks I was supposed to loot that never spawned, rejoining the session did the trick.

No, its an older bug. For me, the first part of the quest cant be done because i see no wreck on the surface or anything else.
From what i understand, i have to pickup something near the rock?

Yes, the developers confirm the problem, and in your case this problem does not lead to blocking further scenarios of the game. The developers will fix the bug in the next updates. Thanks for your feedback!
