And no, they dont get named if you visit them.
There are exceptions. Try visiting the pikes again, they apear on map and are named but hit them with your boat since you need to be very close.
The sperpent is visible on the map? You can go around it and still not count, its too precise where to go.
And then you have the rocks at the extremities wich are easy to check
just use this map ;) every rock for quest has number ;)
in the meantime i have an idea for you..
once you hit a rock, open map and R click , name it and move on ..
R click on map and marking rocks does not work since there is a limit for marks on the map and it is below 50
so go row by row..
