Fourth - you dont need reflexes you need mind, look at map, search nearest place where you can hide from enemy (almost all points of interest are guarded). AND Fifth - GET Vigilant patrol Boat as soon as possible - it is in pirate group only but you dont need to kill all pirate group, you must have perk to drive T3 boat and shoot only 1 boat Vigilant, shoot and retreat, shoot and retreat, you should separate this boat from fleet. Profit :)
There are also some guides which may be useful:

For now just do quests to level up, while avoiding difficult areas. When being attacked and getting too many breaches — boost away and hold spacebar, also there's a consumable that instantly repairs the hull — Instant Hull Repair, use it when really necessary, or there's a Nitro consumable to boost for 30 seconds without consuming energy, don't forget about them. Find the button for Consumables in controls, i forgot what's the default for it. Also use whirlpools to jump away from pursuers, most of them send you 1000 meters away at the direction you're sailing, not a fixed place.
Again this is not the advice for early game, try to remember when you was a newbie. Though you can't even remember the quest for getting new ship, so it's likely hopeless to tell you to remember.
OP, for this you need level 15 captain. When you reach it — ping me, getting Vigilant is not easy because unlike Scorpenas they're all in big Armadas with a bunch of other T3/4 ships.

I still die a lot as I've found with progress, more enemies spawn around and those peaceful locations you enjoyed now spawn pirate groups so virtually, nowhere is safe.
Some of the quests are extremely frustrating with overpowered enemies and although I've soloed most, Random players have won the battle for me and for that I thank them as I would not have progressed as far as I have and would probably have quit the game until such time as balance was a fairer deal.
The biggest tip I can give you is learn the map, spend time revealing the FOW to learn where the pirate groups are in relation to resource nodes. It is worth the time and effort. If you see a group spawn, boost away and turn in a different direction until you lose sight and if you are after a higher tier hull, ease your way back to the group until you are still out of range but can identify the ship you want and fire only at that ship. This will pull it from the group heading toward you as you lead it away.
I've practiced the above in B9/10 easing myself into the resource point at E9 which triggers the armada and successfully gained a Shamrock trawler which I took home and taken out an Anchovy and BK Maureena for which have not the skill to sail as yet.
While doing this, be sure to take out the enemies which randomly spawn as they can eat your hull quickly. By this time, you should have taken out most of the ship weapons and can concentrate on helmsman until the ship becomes boardable. Make sure you keep an eye on your heading so you don't lead back to the group or into another.
I hope this is helpful to you, the game is unforgiving but also a good teacher on how to play in order to minimise risk.
Friend me and we could be the Laurel & Hardy of the Seas ;)
And yeah, quite often other players damage or sink your targets, in fact a couple of missions i'm sure i didn't do, i just sailed nearby the quest start but then went away on my own business and somehow it got completed, likely not without other players :)
Hope you can help each other, but if something — ping in the chat or post on the forum
