Sound channels mislabeled

Not sure if this is specifically an issue with my setup (I use a GoXLR to balance volume levels) or a more general issue with how the options work, but the gist is that the sound options are mislabeling the sound channels/devices, and it doesn't actually remember which audio device setting you saved.

When I first booted it up, I was pretty happy to see the sound settings included the option to choose the audio device/channel. I switched it from the default system audio to my dedicated game volume channel and saved the change.

Every time that I boot the game up again, it does not actually remember the saved setting. It always boots up using the wrong audio channel.
Then, when I go into the settings, it thinks my saved setting was on the default system audio. But if I switch it to the option labeled as the game audio channel, that's STILL the wrong audio channel. Then I switch it back to the system audio, and that actually switches it back over to the game audio channel? Like, what the hell is happening?

I should record it so I can show the issue, because it only barely makes sense in text form.
