help me understand weapon skill distribution
So when the skill tree says you have 10 skillpoints and 10 weapon skillpoints.

What exactly does it mean?

I thought it means either one of these...

A. I can go 10 points straight into the tree AND then i can distribiute another 10 points that only work for 1 of the 2 weapon sets.

B. I can go 10 points straight into the tree OR i can go 5 points left and 5 points right.

But what confuses me is this. I have distributed all my skillpoints. Those with the big shiny lines between the stats. Then i have spent 6 points of my weapon 1 with smaller red lines between stats. But for some reason neither can i distribute the other 12 weapon 1 skills not can i distribute any of the 18 skills for weapon slot 2.

My brain is a mess apparently i don't get the system. What is going on here. Why can i only distribute 6 points of Weapon set 1 and none of the others? My logical conclusion would be that when i can spent 6 of my weapon 1 stats i should be able to spent the other 12 as well.

You may have distributed some of those points as regular skill points, because they'll act like regular skill points if you don't select your weapon set in the top right

I've discussed this extensively in the forum: weapon skill points make no sense. In my opinion, they’re not even fully implemented yet. They would only make sense if you could spend them separately from the regular skill points.

Considering how skills are laid out in the skill tree, and how few skill points we have...it would be VERY difficult I think to actually make sure of the Weapon Specialization points as they want because you'll be wasting so many points on travel nodes and things you don't want

This is what i dont understand. I asked the question ingame and people answered me the same you did now. The problem. There is no option in my upper right corner i could select.

I can see the skillpoints there for the weapons and main skills but there is no button to click for me.

Okay in the top right of the Skill Tree screen, click on the arrow by the weapon set you want to use, and your weapon set will be highlighted. now allocate points

Switching between long range and point blank ranged build might be possible. Its just switching few points.

Dont think of them as "additional" passive points. Think of them as a way for you to fork one passive point into 2 weapon skill points.

Here are your options:

1. Use 1 passive skill point OR
2. Fork the 1 passive skill point into 2 Weapon skill points, which are then distributed evenly among both weapon skill sets.

Just be aware that once you have set a weapon skill point, you can't go that way of the tree with anything else. You'll need to spend more weapon skill points, or revert every change and use normal passive points.
