PoE2 is missing an entire rarity of items - Purple legendaries
My single biggest issue with PoE2 right now is that there is no rarity of items between yellows and uniques.

In a game where it's important to instantly see the rough value of an item when it drops (and get your dopamine spike) colors play an important role, that's why they're in the game.

The problem in PoE2 is, that the quality of yellows ranges wildly, between mediocre and the best items in the game, while most uniques are trash or at least only useful to very specific builds. With both colors you can't be sure to have gotten something good, and that sucks.

So instead of yellows having somewhere between 4 to 6 modifiers they should have 4 or 5 modifiers with a new items category sitting between yellows and uniques.

This new category (legendary) sould be purple items always having 6 modifiers with higher ceiling and a higher chance of their modifiers being better than those of yellow items. Their drop chance should be a tiny bit higher than uniques but considerably lower than yellows.

That way you'd have an category of items you know is always good, the actual bread and butter of grinding, which really keeps your dopamine spiking.

Are there and plans to implement this? Any arguments against it?

That just isn't how loot works in PoE2. You shouldn't feel better about a yellow drop than you do about a blue. That blue drop could be the best piece of gear you'll see in your life. You won't know until you craft on it.

Argument against it is there’s no need for this. It just muddies the waters between random items and uniques. Other games that have unique items and then other types of them like Uber Uniques and Pearlescents… it’s all the same thing but with the illusion of them being different.

Nothing wrong with the current system, anything else added would just feel like bloat. There’s also likely to be a similar system for lucky rolls similar to what we got in Heist. I think they said as much with the “tier x” drops as well.

Where are my rainbow ultra-mythics?
What about my unholy demonfire legacies?
When will they stop cutting out clearly necessary item tiers?

I think with currency orbs, it's too much of a change. Just not worth it for a dopamine spike just cuz of a color.

I think over half the gear I'm using on my main character was crafted from blues with good stats.

Finding a perfect yellow drop is very unlikely.

Hell, most of it wasn't even a drop anyway, I just browse the stores from time to time and often find blues with 2 relevant high level modifiers and enhance them.

You're picking it up and checking it out anyway, good or bad. This is completely pointless.

If the yellow doesn't have good stats, the blue doesn't have good stats and the orange doesn't have good stats, shouldn't they all be grey?

Lets be honest, the color coding makes no sense, why even have it?

The way loot works in this game seems like a logistical nightmare to fix imo, if you have a gambling issue you may enjoy it, but I don't, I don't wanna play to craft and sure in the ♥♥♥♥ don't wanna play a lot of ♥♥♥♥ gameplay to feel powerful for 10 minutes.

Color coding makes perfect sense. It tells you how many modifiers current rarity can have. That's it. You have to decide if they are good modifiers. Orange is simply colour for hand crafted unique items. Colour doesn't tell you if stats are good. Game doesn't know that, and never could.

This game is Diablo inspired, not WoW. Haha
A lot of the rares definitely aren't great though, in more than one way.

Color tells you little to nothing, good rolls tell you everything.

Colors are pointless.

I just explained to you what color tells you. It's up to you to know if rolls are what you'd call good. It works exactly how it worked in aRPGs since the dawn of time. For 30 years it all made sense. Now smoothbrains struggle to wrap their head around simple math. Blue up to two modifiers. Yellow up to 6. It's that simple.

baaaahahahaha

It doesn't, PoE system is unique, as far as any item can be good with stats upgraded how you want if the rng gods allowed it so, Diablo on the other-hand were named, like plate of the whale, but color is rarity and more recently rarity means better.

PoE rarity means nothing, color means nothing because orbs. Unique's are 90% garbage.

The copium is strong with POE 2 fanboys.

Guy has no clue, there are literally blues with perfect perfect that go for very good prices and trash rares that are worthless.
