What other ARPGS have an ascendancy class that you can freely swap around?
You're locked in on Torchlight, Last Epoch, Grim Dawn
D4 doesn't have sub-classes
You said most game in this gerne it is possible, I just gave you 6 games that don't, what other arpgs are people playing? What game lets you change your sub class around?
I'd just make another character and leave this one there, if you're not enjoying it, you may want to return in a future update.

can you not change ascendancy in poe2? i haven't tried but i just assumed you could since you could in POE1
Not in EA
For the moment some explanations of the talents are not clear, What is the "drain of life" and how does it apply and on what basis? How does the % of freeze work and is it applied on what basis? Offering a free de-spec would allow new players to try and test things rather than starting a new hero or farm the gold for that.
A training room with a combat dummy would also be good to test your DPS/effects, etc...
At least we know at the end which ascendancy we prefer, because well, theory building is good for 2 minutes when we have time to do mathematics.
I know every game is different, but there would be more players on POE with better support for beginners and new players.
I know there is a seasonal system but it doesn't appeal to everyone, but that's just my feeling.
If they allowed class respecs everyone would switch to the broken OP classes. Same for ascendancies. I do think however they should just make respeccing cheaper in EA though to allow us to experiment.
You can actually tank mechanics and high tier map bosses which are intended to dodge or get oneshotted.
So the op has a good point to specc out of a accension which is just bad to one of the best atm for high tier braindead mapping.
