Help with graphics please
Hey, I have a 4090 and a 7900x, but for some reason the game seems very stuttery to me and my fps are inadequate. Im getting 70-90 (which isn't too bad? But it's still stuttery and weird) I had this issue on launch and with several other games too, decided to do a DDU a couple days ago, and the problem went away. I was capped at 140 fps constantly with no issues anymore.
Then the issue randomly appeared again and I'm losing my mind. I tried another DDU, didn't work. Bios are up to date, I didn't do any updates or whatever either the issue just came back randomly. I've tried many things, messing with graphical options don't change my fps either. I've tried going in the NVIDIA control panel and setting poe2 to high performance, putting my gpu as preferred graphics and performance pref too.

I don't know what to do anymore, please help D:

Hm. I have stable 120-130fps on 3080 and 5800x3D on 21:9 2K monitor. Try to put nvdidia DLSSAA ON and enable nvidia boost.

They are both on, I've been messing with every option and it didn't change anything.

I'm not sure what to think. Even if I put everything to the lowest and deactivate everything, I can't seem to get more fps or no stutter.

I had the same issue with call of duty on its release. It was fine but then at some point it randomly started having stutter and lower fps, was unplayable and I stopped playing altogether.

I get the same thing from time to time. No idea why it randomly locks my fps at about 50. Other times it plays and I get well over 240fps. I have a feeling its something not allowing the gpu to run properly in the game? I thought it was something on my end but now not so sure. Seems to be random. I just dont play when its locked at a low rate.

I get the same thing in multiple other games too.
I tried a bunch of things and it's still stuttery, but now my fps are always capped at 100. Won't go higher for some reason. (actually it goes to 101fps a bunch but its 99-100-101)
By stuttery I don't mean like stutters, it's more like it's not smooth. Feels like 25fps or something

are you trying to cap fps with something like rivatuner ? long shot but dont try to cap when using dlss it starts being weird

WIth an 13700K and a 4090 I'm getting 120fps (I locked it at 120 fps), though there are some dips here and there (I'm not using DSLL or anything).

Maybe its server lag instead of your PC?

I'm not trying to cap anything I even checked the nvidia control pannel and it was off. Now I turned it on and capped it at 144 to see, didn't change anything. I've read something about VSYNC capping fps at 100 somewhere (Which doesn'T make sense I think? So I tried turning it off, didn't change anything either)

Nope, it's not server lag as I'm getting it in some other game, and it's not something that looks like a ping issue or whatever, simply not smooth.

Update: I also tried switching monitors, which doesn't seem to be the issue
(And if anyone asks, yes my refresh rate on my monitors is set to max (240Hz on one, and 144hz on the other)

Path of exile uses an in house engine and there is a known issue (by the public) that their engines CPU utilisation in POE 2 is bricked and just wasting 50% of calculations, possibly related to a conflict with the Windows operating system

hmmm what about DirectX/vulkan wich are you on ? try diffrent ones just incase :steamsad: sorry if you already tried

Also tried Vulkan already, which was lower performance (Oddly enough, because according to other people with the similar specs as mine, it was supposed to be like 20% better)

Update: This time turning OFF Nvidia Reflex seemed to fix the issue of stutter. (Perhaps it was the combination of that + something else as I'm trying ALOT of ♥♥♥♥) And fps seem to go to 105 but won't go higher. (I'm on 2k ultrawide res)

Still doesn't explain the issue of how I was getting my 144fps (which it was capped at) with no issue (and NVIDIA Reflex was at ON + BOOST back then too) after doing my DDU, and now having a much poorer performance.

(As a timeline: I played PoE2 on release, had poor performance but no stutter, eventually got the stutter too. I got pissed and a friend told me to DDU, which I did, and my problems were fixed. Then like 2 days later, I play in the morning, no issue, leave for work, come back and the issue is back... No update and nothing since then, just me leaving for work lol)

From personal experience: most STUTTER is going to be from server. Im supposed to play on Washington, but it always performs like garbage for me, so i hopped on Texas and it was way more solid. If youre on NVIDIA, stay on directx. When it comes to fps, turning bloom down helped me a lot. I also never use any resolution scaling, but thats a personal thing. I also set target fps to be higher if im forced to use res scaling.

good that stutter is gone. for fps am not sure but try to not test in town because it wont be consistant it will depend on how many people are there flexing their shiny mtx

Good point, OP have you tried switching data centers for luls? Drivers updated? Try turning OFF any upscaling, personally I have noticed in some games (not sure on this one) if you use upscaling it tends to be more CPU bound than GPU

yep, been testing out of town as well.

At least the game is smoother/more playable now. But I feel like I'm definitely not getting the performance I should out of my pc, which kinda sucks.
