Be mindful that increase in spell damage literally means an increase in BASE spell damage... so you have to have a FULL comparison to your damage with both wands. Maybe your new wand has a higher BASE value, therefore almost the same as the old one with the bonus?
Example. Weapon #1 base damage of 10, with 100% spell bonus damage = 20 damage
Weapon #2 base damage of 20 damage with 0% bonus = 20 damage
There you should see the staff in question. And what I was wondering was, if the 76% bonus to spell damage applies to all of my spells, not just to the fireball spell.
edit: Image didn't show correctly at first, now the link should be working.
Yeah, there is a lot of missing information in the spell descriptions and player stats. I'm still a little confused in some spots yet.
Hopefully this one works. :)
edit: And to further clarify my question:
As far as I understand, with this staff, all of my spells should get +76% to their base damage. So if I throw an spark spell that does 100 damage, it should with the staff do 176 damage, if I didn't have any other bonuses.
But for some reason, this doesn't seam to be the case for me at least. either all my other bonuses dwarf the bonuses my staff gives or then for some reason the bonus isn't applied to my other spells... This game could use some toggle for damage numbers :)
to be frank. quite alot of bugs here and there. even in poe1 damage is not accurate, pobb is more accurate but still not perfect. there may not be perfect or ever. but it's good enough.
for poe 2. bugs are quite alot for now, some major and some minor but not on fundamental game design issue like campaign design etc and bosses design etc. it is FANTASTIC.
Bugs listed below are just microcosm of some.
1)for gems, some skills will get stuck in the sense u can assign or use anymore but to recreate with a new gem (bug in all class) same game but new one can be assign.
2) minions, or aura, curse etc (bug). will not shown in top corner sometimes.
it shows sometimes but not occur in game display(like red curses or green curses enfeeble etc)
3) some trial and quest wont show completion even if u get rewards and killed the boss.
4) after killing the dragon in act 3. u cant find the door behind. have to reset new instance only show sometimes.
5)..... maps device part will have more issues...
6) ... player stats are not accurate sometimes. if u get buff it will not show, but ur speed is increased in game.
but so it's still a DAMN GOOD game... just need some time to update.
Here is an staff I was thinking about using... But as said, I can't see any change in my other spells dps, even if instead of that staff I would use an staff with zero +spell damage. It could be an bug ofc, as eastcow91 suggested... If that is the case, I'll just need to wait for a patch or play some other class meanwhile..
So here is a breakdown. Spell (of the magic kind, not physical abilities) Have the Base damage tied to the level of the spell. You can see in my screenshot I'm hovering over the spell description of the Wands Chaos bolt. In that description you see the base value (its a range of 13-25)
If you press G, you can hover your mouse over your gems, and see all of their base values as well.
Here you can see my spells Base stats compared to the final stats in the flyout. Notice the BASE does not change (when looking directly at the gem spell) vs the data sheet that you get when clicking the tiny arrow next to "DPS"
Options > interface > gameplay, there you can turn on/off display of auras and buffs. That might be what you are refering too?
wow u gave very detail and helpful information.
yeh that's what i'm referring to. it's bug out out sometimes. minion shows can be double sometimes (bugs out.)
if u put mobility gem support on pain offering. the stats wouldn't changes but sometimes can feel character goes faster.
so yeh
