There are 'large node' passives on the skill tree that increase base critical chance. When they do, it is explicitly mentioned. It doesn't make sense that you can't see a change in the critical chance/critical damage after changing your build, unless you're checking your basic attack after increasing your spell critical only or something similar.
Is there a way to see the overall stats? The character screen doesn't show crit chance/etc
For your second question, if your weapon has any kind of elemental attack damage it will be used no matter what. It's just a part of the weapon stats and will be included in dps.
