Socketed Speels?

I got a new skill called Elemental Invocation. It gains charges to used socketed spells. What are these socketed spells? The same thing as the skill gems? I'm playing as monk.

Socket skills are all the skill you have placed in your Gem Page (G)
Basically, it copies the skills you're using. Unless it has some restriction, like some can't use Channeling spells.

I see... weird to have a skill for spells in a monk. I have pretty much nothing in INT. =X

I figured something out, you can use lower level elemental spells, whatever skill gem level you at the INT for. I used a level 3 orb since my INT was high enough. However, with such low level skill, especially for a monk it doesn't really do much. When the game gets out of early access there may be more options.

The disappointing part is that you still have to cast the spells, unless I'm doing it wrong. I put thunder orb on that, and it just let's you cast it for no mana, which that spell obviously costs me very little mana. If I can sustain my regular skills, then why would a free thunder orb be anything special? I was hoping it would auto cast whatever spell I have on that. It just seems like a pointless buff to use at the moment. Maybe in end game there's some tricks for it where it really helps certain builds.
