Try the Illusive passive buff.
Costs 30 Spirit but it's an easy and free way to get power charges to spawn Zombies on bosses.
Edit: oof, Blood Mage. Sorry, my eyes slid right over that.
The HP costs badly need adjustment.
Still, Illusive is excellent for spawning zombies or empowering anything else you have that uses Power Charges.
How does that HP cost 8nteract with wand/staff spells that don't cost mana?
As I mentioned in the video, I am super sorry for the omega-crap quality. I have never recorded a video before. Cheers.

P.S.: First experience with a Necro was D2. This follows that guideline pretty well I think. It also only uses stuff from the Witch (With exception to support gems.)
Pet builds are very very good, lol i just speed run entire act 3 -4 - 5 and now on 6
If you come at the witch and just focus on 3 or so skelly minions you have access to that is going to suck
PoE is convoluted with its skills and all
Look up a Witch build to get an idea of some things that work, try them out and in no time you will get the hand of it but ya its not a very intuitive system IMO and you can easily paint your self into a corner.
For my Witch I have been using Fire Wall, Skelly Archer poison... quick, easy fairly effective. Once you get your first Spirit Gem WTF ever they call it (over convoluted IMO) you can get Raging Spirits and that with just those 3 your pretty solid for Act 1
Focus on your defence of course cold resist for Act 1 and I like shield but most would add a mix of armour and shield so maybe drop a point or 2 in str or is it dex you need ... and there is the issue with PoE
Convoluted, can paint self into a corner easily expensive to reroll to the point its not viable when starting out ... so ya I have a few times recreated my character its just faster to experiment that way
I've seen a build that uses contagion and raise to yield bone constructs that spread contagion rapidly it used essence drain and contagion with raise as the core skill set. I haven't tried it myself yet not big on builds that depend to much of corpses leaves you feeling useless in many boss fights IMO
It is alright for clearing zones, but damage in boss fights is not that good.
I'm not the guy who demanded to see your build so I'll just award you for putting the video out XD
And your experience there was basically the same as mine.
Skulls are nice but they're just a bonus.
Though for anyone who does run Skulls, put Infernal Legion on it.
Warrior has been my second class and I am enjoying it so far. I am very used to being able to just face tank a lot of hits so I don't think to dodge until it's to late.
Witch is the earliest I have ever gotten to that boss and the earliest I have ever killed it. It's crazy, crazy powerful early game.
You don't even need a dedicated build for Contagion and Unearth to yield results.
Unearth by default gives the Constructs Contagion on hit so long as the corpse it was raised from had Contagion upon death.
Just as an FYI, the Decaying Hex support gem counts as a chaos DoT for Contagion to spread.
You can also do fun stuff like put Pin+Lockdown on Skeleton warriors and they will, in large enough summon quantity, fully pin a boss in seconds.
You can also put Bludgeon on the Lightning Mages to get a squad of chaining knockback spammers.
Minions are incredibly versatile thanks to the variety of gems they can use.
