Will this game become screen clearing?
Looking for peoples' just kind of sober takes on what POE2 endgame will likely be.

I usually like the first 35-50 hours of ARPGs until you get to the point where you are running a "meta" build with good gear and now you just run around clearing the screen of all mobs with one move set, kill bosses in several seconds, and whatever else.

Now that sounds negative and from my opinion maybe it is. But, if you really enjoy ARPG endgame, optimizing every last stat, whatever then by all means enjoy it. Not judging.

But my question is, what do you guys think POE2 endgame will be? Will it stay the kind of dark soulzy combat I am enjoying right now at lower levels, or will it eventually be more geared towards speed running around, kind of "screen clearing"?

Just want some honest opinions on whether this game will be worth my time or not. And once again, not hating on the game or whatever you in particular enjoy about ARPGs.

Thanks!

I don't think anyone really knows what direction the devs are going to take it for the on-release endgame. Currently, the strongest screen clearing builds have been nerfed (I didn't play those, so not complaining), so it might be that they don't really want that.

We're still really early in the early access. The direction off the game could change many times. Only time and the devs will tell.

I'm reading more and more that people feel like endgame is filled with poe1 style mob difficulty. Massive swarms of enemies loaded with projectiles and obscured ground damage. So it becomes about less about the slow and methodical gameplay of the first half of the game and becomes more about clearing the screen quicker than it can clear you.

Hoping we see some sinister monster mechanics that re-engage the player instead of zoom zoomin.

There is a ton of stuff to do in the endgame but I'm slow and not even halfway. And I'm loving it

What will happen or not .. nobody knows. The fact remains that this game is slower because shield bash, leap, all the movement skills are slower hence zooming around like in poe1 isn't possible.

One button screen clearing builds however are pretty much what it comes down at the end. Nobody wants to rolling slam 4 mobs x50 in maps.

Arsonist/Srs infernalist pretty much is one button zooming around until you get oneshot by crap.. just like in poe1. With the only differences that you move slower and solving defenses is harder.

it's mapping and bosses at end, pretty much like in every game of genre.
no new story content untill ch4-6 are released

idk what you expect ? convoluted conspiracy theories and meaning of life questions?
There's a no mans sky if u into that type of things.

and yea, end game is just grind and min/maxing build and items.
To break monotony you can always do trials I guess, or play another class.

Hoping it stays challenging and on slower side. Never will understand the appeal of screen clearing but to each their own and having fun their own way

It already is. Cast on Freeze got a major nerf because it was clearing screens and bosses with too much ease. But, somebody already remade it arguably just as strong with Cast on Freeze and call of the brotherhood ring.

As much as i like this game, its just poe1's ruthless leagues in a dumbed down format and prettier graphics :/

Yes. That's what this game is starting in act 2 onward.

We have months of changes before us so who knows where it ends up.

I do...
I know exactly where it ends up.

I dunno, they have already broken the big 'meta' screen clear builds that have cropped up. Seems like they are not super keen on the endgame poe1 game play here to me.

No, but you can guess.

I think that eventually, yes. Maybe not at the lightning speed you can get with POE 1. The very idea of a game like this is go from a peasant to a god slayer. What's the point of getting powerful if you're killing mobs as slow as when you were level 10 or 20? That doesn't mean it needs to be a breeze. I think it's possible to have a nice paced game, not slow, but not super fast, where you can screen cleans, but be challenging at the same time with stuff like on death effects, mobs debufing you on death, tougher mobs among the trash that simply can't get one shot and so on.

This is for the map side of things. Endgame bosses (or even regular bosses) are a different story. I always thought how ridiculous it is being able to one shot them or not having to worry with their mechanics because you spend mirrors on a ridiculous build that turned you invulnerable.
