Merc slow when firing while holding, fast when clicking?

When i spam left click to attack my merc will move at pretty much full speed, but if i hold to fire he moves super slow, this feels awful and surely is not how it should be? and if the slowing when shooting is for balance, why let it move full speed when spamming instead???

I have this issue as well, especially with smaller enemies. Sometimes its a full 3 seconds before the attack actually fires.

I think its the targeting not transferring properly when holding the a key down and moving from enemy to enemy.

I had the same issue and it was so awful. I rerolled to merc from witch and it almost made me quit the game. Sometimes I'd be moving around for five seconds before being able to fire again after a reload, it felt awful.

Something happened though and I'm not sure what, either GGG patched it, I randomly changed a setting in options or increasing attack-/and or reload speed via the skill tree fixed it for me.

I no longer have that problem and it's so much better.
