Characters don’t transfer out of early access, but items do?

I know characters will remain in a “early access” server upon the full release and not transfer to full Standard, but I’ve seen some people say that items, weapons, and armour still do. Is that true? I’m new to PoE so I don’t fully understand.

It will have it's own standard realm. All of your characters, items and progress will be saved there, but there will be no updates to that realm other than to stay in line with technical requirements of the client. You will not be able to create new characters in that realm.

every new season your chars go to standard so they do get deleted you just cant use them in the newest league
