Report a translation problem
Sometimes, the sub-bosses can be skipped, and when you check the map, you'll see the light beige/grey skill, vs the medium grey skull. I agree it's not clear enough between the two, but I think artistically the want it to fit with the colour scheme of the map layout, rather than be a bright, glowing "This has not been done yet" skull or chest icon.
Also, if you go to an area with a skull or map icon, sometimes you have not GOTTEN the quest for it yet and no matter what you do it won't grey out.
Check them from your own map ("U") or by accessing a waypoint
gotta agree, it was a pain at first.. once I got used to the 2 shades it became easier to tell at a glance but starting out
