Infernalist is so bad and I can't change my ascendancy

Specced into infernalist on a witch that I spent 20 hours playing. It is so bad... 2 out of the 4 trees kill you? What the f***. If I could swap my ascendancy this wouldn't be an issue, but I'm now stuck having to completely remake a character and replay a good chunk of the game. I loved the witch class but as soon as I went demon form and killed myself with it not realizing it drained my life (doesn't mention that on the tree at all) I tried respending my points just to end up with another ability that replaces my mana. Thought it'd be similar to how I had ZERO mana issues but it also killed me after using too many abilities. Please fix this it's so bad and was such a waste of my time.

Demon form + bonestorm = dead boss in 5-10 secs. You just need to watch on your hp and use hp flask.

If you spec into life recoup and leach can you outpace the demonform life drain? Or can you not gain life?

Still manageable with fire resistance but annoying since it doesn't provide any benefit on its own

I'm also questioning my choice of blood witch. It sounded cool, but spells costing health with no upside seems crazy. I'm sure there's some build that destroys everything with it, but I'm playing blind and without much Poe experience.

I am talking about Demonform. It drains life but gives a dmg boost. I've used Bonestorm to deal with bosses and it took me like 5-10 casts of skill to wipe out a boss in Demonform. Usually you can stay in Demonform as long as you have hp flask charges, when they deplete you just transform back to humanform. In most cases it was more than enought to nuke bosses.

I think he meant demon form.
It's the last item in the tooltip.

Something like that. Plus with hight hp regen on items or passive node gives you more time to stay in Demonform which again boosts dmg even more. In theory if find build which will help to neglate hp drain - Demonform will be broken.

You can nagate life loss completly, by investing in proper passives or by equipping armor with life regen. Im currently regening even in demon form, its not that hard. Look fruther in demon form tree, there is a passive that cap demon charges at 10.
