Path of Exile 2

Still No 32:9 Ultrawide Support in PoE 2 Early Access?
Hey everyone,

I’ve been playing Path of Exile 2 during Early Access, and while the core game is great, I’m genuinely disappointed that 32:9 ultrawide monitors are still not supported properly, even though 21:9 works just fine.

The game has been in Early Access since December 2024, and it's honestly surprising that there’s been no update or fix for this yet. I’m playing on a 5120x1440 (32:9) super ultrawide monitor, and instead of filling the screen, the game just shows black bars on both sides, effectively limiting the view to a 21:9 area or less. It feels like a huge waste of screen space and breaks immersion completely.

It’s strange because 21:9 is already supported, which shows that ultrawide awareness is there, so why cut off 32:9 entirely?

In 2025, support for 32:9 should really be a standard, especially for a big title like this. Games like Diablo IV and Last Epoch already support it, and PoE 2 deserves to be in that league.

Dear GGG devs, please consider adding native 32:9 support. The community would deeply appreciate it, and it would make the game experience much more immersive and modern for those of us with super ultrawide setups.

Is anyone else dealing with the same issue? Any temporary fixes or .ini tweaks?

Thanks!

It showing black bars is the exact reason why you know that it has 32:9 support. Those were added there on purpose. A few years ago PoE1 didn't have those black bars but they eventually added them and they did the same for PoE2 from the start.

The reason why those black bars exist are balancing and ... to prevent players from seeing inactive enemies. Basically, all enemies too far away from the players become inactive to safe computing power. And with a too wide screen you can see that far away that you can actually see them before they become active.

Which is also part of the second reason, balancing. If players who have such a wide screen can see further than players who use a regular monitor it means that those players have an advantage. This is especially important in a game like PoE that is usually rather zoomed in. So to not urge the players into getting widescreen monitors to have this advantage they added those black bars. Aka balancing so that every player seems the same thing no matter the monitor they use.

So TLDR: The game has very functional 32:9 support and what you're complaining about is working as intended. Even though many ultra widescreen players don't really like it.

I can only wish they add 32:9 support... I'm ok with what we have now but it'd be amazing to have no black bars on my screen when playing
Not going to get 32x9, they already took stance against it when they removed it. We also had a work around to fix 32x9 that some used to great success for a few years. But sadly they patched a fix for it into 0.2 patch that would flag you as using cheats and can get you banned.
