Path of Exile 2

Can't invite friend to group
I'm starting a second character to play with a friend who hasn't played before, and we got through the tutorial and entered the first town, but we still can't group up. The game allowed us to friend one another in-game, but when I invite him or vice versa, nothing happens.

I've used the social screen dozens of times, even relaunched the game, nothing works. Any tips on getting two people into a party early-game?

Both of us are playing the regular base game, not hardcore nor dawn of the hunt. I have no clue what SSF stands for, but we're literally just playing the default experience on the same server.
SSF stands for Solo Self Found. It basically means that it is impossible to interact with other players and that you must do ilterally everything alone. You can neither trade nor play together with other player. So like I said, to me it sounds like you are playing with SSF enabled since stuff like not being able to make or see parties is exactly what SSF is all about.

Also, when creating a character you have 2 checkboxes for hardcore and SSF. And it is also always possible to migrate your SSF character to the regular league from the character selection screen. Though I guess your listed league would be called Solo Self Found League instead of Standard league which you maybe would have noticed when checking the listed name of the league your character is in.

Just going to throw out a random idea to try and hope it works:
Try making a guild and then invite from the guild page?

Good idea, will try that! Still, for anyone else reading this, any idea what I'm doing wrong/not doing? Thanks!

Update: Cannot view or create public parties. The page is completely blank, and any attempts to make one just results in the text disappearing but nothing being created.

Any tips on this? I see 0 public parties, am 100% unable to create public or private parties, and no one is able to receive direct invites from me. I have beaten the damn tutorial boss in front of the starter town, as all the basic vanilla articles recommend, and yet still cannot view or access any multiplayer features whatsoever.

Am I missing something, or is this game just fundamentally broken?

Just to make sure, are you 2 in the same league?

0 public parties sounds like you're in standard and your buddy is in dawn of the hunt.

We're both in standard and both in the same server.
This still has not been revolved. Please help, my fellow peeps.

Solo self found. No trading, no coop, you play alone.
Would explain the empty public parties :steamhappy:
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

This would explain it. So what would be the preferred starting option, just to be 100% sure?

I would do Dawn of the Hunt.
Don't click the hardcore option or solo self found option. Just normal Dawn of the Hunt.
However, if you have items and characters from before the league, maybe you want to play Standard. Thats where your old characters are.
No different between Standard and Dawn mind you. But most everyone is playing Dawn of the Hunt.

Edit: You can opt out of SSF, im pretty sure. You just can't opt into it.
