Please read before buying mystery box! ( they do have dupes )

Yes, it is said in the video of the mystery box that there are VARIANTS of each item in the mystery box it is very easy to miss and mis understand. You can and will get dupes in these boxes and it is very likely you won't get the item you want or full set of gear mtx without spending a large amount of money, literally gambling ( evil ). basically you can get multiples of the same item, but they can legally say you won't because one is green and the other purple.

YES mtx in path of exile 1 and 2 are P2W. How can i say this? because there are certain advantages you get from buying some mtx. If you buy one of these and are in certain circumstances they will give you advantages such as letting you know when certain mobs are nearby, when you're critting, when you have a certain flask up, better fps, just many many visual cues that you would not get without paying for them. and they are normally using fomo to make you buy them by making them one time sales and then deleting them from the shop

GGG is presented as some super awesome company by shills but they still have manipulative marketing tactics with these boxes and paying streamers to literally tell you the game is good and #ad and gaslight us and emotionally manipulate us.

You are right, it is gambling, so any sane person won't buy them because its chance and they always contain duplicates. Unless you enjoy the gambling ofc. Whoever thought this wouldn't be the case was only fooling themselves.

GGG are as predatory as any other company that rely on the cash shop to keep them going.

This is copy pasted from old threads, you can tell by the PoE 1 references to things that are not in PoE 2 and the generalized accusations.

also, pretty much everything in boxes ends up available individually once next season starts,

BRO!! this is the most manipulative tactic in mtx gambling there is!! they are clearly the same skin, just recolored to dilute the pool of getting the item you want / the whole set.

That's why this tactic is so egregious!! if everything goes on sale individually then WHY EVEN RELEASE THE GAMBLING BOX IN THE FIRST PLACE... oh to prey upon peoples fomo and addiction to gambling because they are evil and greedy!!! and again, the items will be removed from the mtx store at the end of the league for more fomo.

Its strange that people are now defending a cash shop as having integrity. They are there to keep the company afloat and try to get as much money out of you as possible. Hence they include stuff that should be in the game already, like expanding storage using gold etc.

Gamble mechanics are there for a reason, to make you keep buying the boxes so you get that one final piece.

it blows my mind. it's not like ggg's done anything to earn this. in the last 5 years they've just gotten worse..

and yes. my biggest problem with the mtx is that they're not in the game.

it's even worse with poe 2. a very slow wow style mmo type of game where the best part of the game is farming cosmetics..... they're pulling what could be a great addition from the base game to make a few extra bucks

there are no dupes, just recolored version of the same item, I already got all of them and can no longer buy the box. Says "Limit Reached"!

It is one thing to discuss the role of lootboxes and predatory practices in the industry but spouting copy pasted misinformation in the hopes of trashing a game is a whole 'nother matter.

sure, loot boxes are terrible
yes, GGG gets a huge pass because what they do is 'not as bad' as other games.

however the claims made by the OP are not true and after 3k hours in PoE, the OP knows that.

They would get an even bigger pass by just taking them out and putting the items in the store. They know the percentages of drops and the money you will need to spend to get a full set of matching gear.
