Will this one have a new engine?
Or will it still use the same outdated potato that is the current one?

Both games share the same engine. PoE1 engine is actually great, it has a lot of tech that other engines still doesn't have (like true realtime GI, water flow simulations and other stuff). But the art of PoE1 is very outdated except the league content. But it still looks okay (considering that most of it was done in 2011-2015) thanks to the game engine.

So the art will be upgraded and new in PoE2 and it looks fantastic.

Where did you hear that they are reusing an engine that was made 11 years ago? Dang I surely hope not.

It's their own proprietary engine and has undergone a lot of work and improvement for new features since PoE1 released - hence why the minimum requirements for the game have crept up over the years.

They're using the same Engine as PoE1, but that's not really the same engine as the game they released all that time ago.
