Closed betas are done, this is early access now. We already played closed betas, they was hand picked, so you def didn't get invited to it.

PoE 1 came out Oct 23, 2013. You got Acts I-III, and engame was grinding docks.
Act IV - Added July 10, 2015.
Endgame mapping was introduced Sept 2, 2016.
Acts V-X were added on Aug 4, 2017.

We've got some of the endgame and are missing 3-7 acts, give or take.

If it's like PoE 1....

No fixed date but probably at least a year of early access.

If its anything like PoE1 then no point waiting for its release because it will just keep changing after its release and never stop.

Also your dates are all wrong. Maps added in 2016? Thats the Ascendancy expansion + Perandus league.
Endgame maps were around since closed beta, maybe even near the end of alpha?

June 2010 = Alpha
August 2011 = Closed beta
January 2013 = Open Beta
October 2013 = Released

But like I said, PoE1 never stopped changing and PoE 2013 is nothing like PoE1 2025.
I'm sure the same will be true with PoE2.

You're right.

I just pulled up the date for Atlas which was post-maps... but early on the end game was more or less just docks. More docks. Rinse and repeat. It's been so long a lot is honestly kind of smashed together.

Those dates on act additions are more or less on point though - it took forever, but the switch from 3x 3 to 2x 5 was nice. All the acts instead of a direct repeat even better.

It just took forever. Masters came and went. We had the events and races. Racing disappeared. We got leagues, leagues became core.

Moral of the story, they may say "full" launch by a date, but "full" is whatever they call it at the time.

iirc the vision of original launch was just going to be acts 1 through 6, but then the devs saw everyone's reactions to D4's lack of endgame on their launch and pivoted to establish an endgame for early access....

I'm of the opinion that maybe they really had no idea what they WANTED to do for endgame and just mashed this together at last minute (in production terms a few months).

I get that feeling for some of the campaign as well. A lot of it is relatively well done, but you can tell there was a hard shift from it to end-game. I think that's part of the reason people found it so difficult and jarring - they shifted to end-game implementation rather than balancing passes.

hmm yeah, I can see that. Unfortunately for us their dev team is on the small side, so we will have to just be patient to see what direction this goes.

I for one am excited and hopeful.

Ah yes, the original race events. Tbh I think thats what PoE2 needs.
Instead of trying to pump out new leagues right away, just give us the race events like they did in PoE1.
Endless Dreadnought Race pls :lunar2019laughingpig:
TBH, that was probably the most fun I've had in PoE ever. Constant events around the clock, mini-leagues with sometimes crazy off the wall features... and alt-arts as rewards. People got good, there was no RMT to get ahead.

Totems were cool and worth grinding for when leagues and challenges were added.

Then at some point... it all disappeared and official releases started to feel more like garbage.
