I could make a Warrior (worst starter) and use maces (worst weapon), get to him in about an hour, bop him with 3~6 Perfect Strikes, and be done with act 1.

Imagine being walled by the tutorial boss.

Alright, there's a bit of strategy to actually ending the fight, and I'll take you through the broad strokes.

1. When the fight starts, if you look at the top of the screen you'll see that a horizontal red bar appears. While it's not clear, you can experiment and discover that this measures how much "health" the boss has remaining. Most people will pick up after hitting the boss and seeing some of the red disappear that these two things are connected - and they're RIGHT. The fight ends when the boss runs out of health.

2. The boss's health bar looking different to your health globe but works in a fundamentally similar way. I like to commit this simple rhyme to memory to help me assess it quickly - "When it's full of Red, I'm not dead". It's like when you realise that Port on a ship has the same number of letters as "left", so it's easy to remember which side of the ship is Port.

3. Keeping in mind points 1 and 2, you can work out that when the boss hits you, your life goes down and when you hit him his does - this makes the fight basically a race between the two of you, and strategically, you want him to run out of life first.

4. There is a point when he turns into the manky wolf thing that he gets all his health back. This might seem like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to you, but think about how he feels when you drink potions. It's basically fair.

... so hopefully that'll help you in realising that the fight does have an end, and actually, the end can be quite consistently brought about by doing the same thing - taking all his health away before he does it to you. One of the best ways of achieving this is to hit him with your attacks whilst not being hit by his.

Good luck!
