Second question : When you use a skill it convert the base damage of your weapons into another elemental,so yeah if your weapon base physical damage is low it affected the skills you are using.
Elemental damage is an extra damage added to the skill,it does not included in calculation at the part of converting physical damage.
Let' say if your weapon is 200 physical damage after applied every prefixes.
Your damage multiplier is 450% ---> 200*4.5 = 900
720 of 900 is converted to elemental damage
180 of 900 is the left over as physical damage.
By adding another elemental mods 5 cold damage multiplied by 450% of skill damage --> 5*4.5 = 22.5 as cold damage is another add up to the cold damage from physical damage converted to cold damage 720.
So,it's 720+22.5 = 742.5 as cold damage and another 180 of physical damage.
this part I don't understand. Where is the 450% coming from? I thought your example was that 200 physical damage is already with all bonusses applied.
No. All modifiers to cold damage will apply if the skill itself deals cold damage so in this example the 20% increased cold damage would increase the total cold damage that Zenogias calculated so it would be 742.5*1.2 = 891
It is important to note that global increases and decreases to types of damage that are on your equipment and on the skill tree apply after damage conversion so if you have a physical dmg weapon but are using a skill that converts that damage to elemental, then any increases to physical dmg on your skill tree and equipment will only apply on the portion of dmg that didn't get converted to another damage type.
So in the above example where you would deal 742.5 cold damage and 180 physical damage with Ice Strike, if you had, for example, 10% increased physical dmg on your skill tree, the 180 physical damage would get increased by 10%, but not the 742.5 cold damage.
