Trials of Sekhemas is Boring and Unfair for Melee
I just want to get my third ascendancy, but I am getting perma blocked by this horribly unbalanced trial system where I 1: have to get lucky with boons and afflictions and the door pathing to even have a chance and 2: literally go untouched by anything at all as a MELEE CHARACTER and if I get hit by literally anything at all I lose like 1/6 of my honor right there. What? I have the best relics that I own regarding honor being used. I have an incredibly over-leveled build and character for this activity. I run through the entire trial for 8 million years of boring ass gameplay to finally get to the third boss just for me to get stunned and instantly lose 3000 honor in two hits. What are we doing? This is so stupid bruh. It is so unbelievably favored to ranged characters, and there is literally nothing that I do that works. It's so boring. I'm over here doing tier 11+ maps in endgame so far, but a level 60 trial of sekhemas isn't possible because I'm melee. What a joke

Personally not struggling as meele in Sekhmas never get hit , guess its just a skill issue tbh
Agreed, it's rough. What's even worse is there's a dogpile of posters here who will say "git gud" to you regardless of your situation, even if you're juggling chainsaws with one hand while clearing T16+ maps with the other hand, and holding up a newspaper with today's time and date with your teeth.

If you haven't read this page, it's worth studying, this will help you clear it:

The key is maxed honour resistance and max honour, extra life and defenses, get those capped ASAP. At a minimum, don't even bother running it without maxed honour res. You shouldn't lose that much honour with capped out resistances.

The Trial of Sekhemas made me quit the game. Having to play the game in the safest, most boring way possible is already bad, but having to redo the entire trial just for another try at the boss made me lose any interest.

Forcing me to do a worse version of the Bed of Chaos run back every time I want another shot at the boss is the antithesis of fun.

Manage your expectations. The GAME is unfair to melee. It's just more obvious due to the mechanics of Sanctum/Sekhema.

This goes back to PoE1. It has literally always been a problem. It's not going to be fixed. GGG either doesn't know how to, or isn't interested in, making true melee characters balanced with ranged.

That's not to say you will never have a good melee build that can't succeed to a degree in the endgame. But it will never be S tier, and if by some miracle an S tier true melee build is discovered, you can be damned certain GGG is going to be hitting it with a jumbo sized nerf club pronto.

That's just how things are. Melee is a starter build.
If you are having an issue your damage is too low get it higher and you will no longer have an issue.

Totally agree. I don't know what goes in the mind of those who design this. It is hard, long time, depend on luck. And if you fail you have to start all over and the coin isn't easy to be found. No fun at all
.
And for those "your build are bad" or "Git gud" this is not a super top secret last boss that give you a golden achievement. This is a thing that average people with average build should pass. If normal people have a hard time doing it. It must have some problem

It doesn't seem to be designed to do it in one go and it's not explained well anywhere. Even the choas trials require multiple goes to get to the final boss if you don't buy door keys on the currency exchange. The main thing is slotting the best relics, movement speed, resistances, increased defenses. With honor resistance being the top one. If you are losing 1/6th of your honor per hit. Your relics and resistances are low. Movement speed boots are a must especially paired with movement boon. It took me 5-6 times, with buying and finding better relics to be able to get to and kill the final boss comfortably and consistently.
As a lightning arrow ranger, I had to be 10 levels over and did the trials probably 10 times to finish my second ascendancy.

I did not complain once.

Not everything is supposed to be easy.
Honor resistance and sunder, cake walk.
agree. made also a post about it. they are way to cumbersome.

You just don't understand the game mechanics. This gives you major struggles. Mom told you, you're the best and smartest, so it must be the games error.

Farm relics that give you increase maximum honor and honor resistance. Always visit the merchant to purchase boon that helps to offset affliction whenever possible. Avoid gauntlet if you are not good at controlling your character.

Third ascendancy took me more than 10 levels to complete and I need to be careful with which room I chose.
8bits is right, very good advice.

Might just be a case where you gotta farm and level, get stronger gear and more damage, then come back to complete the ascendency.

If you can get a Relic with "See additional room(s) ahead on the Trial map" as a modifier, that helps a ton. It helps you to chart a path to the boss more safely.

Same deal with the Scrying Crystal minor boon. You should be buying all Boons, ideally.

Maybe because it's not meant to be played only twice and then never again? The reason why you get "get gud" posts, is because the trial is actually super easy as long as you run it multiple times and collect good idols to boost your build.

You not liking a mechanic doesn't mean the mechanic needs to be made easier just because you don't want to play it.

All that being said, you have the option to gather your ascendancy through temple of chaos. What's the excuse there?

By OP's post you can tell it's full of lazy lies. If he had the best idols, then he wouldn't have any issues running the trial.
