Path of Exile 2

legitamate thoughts on drop rate
Just curious as a semi-casual what others think.

just got to maps and im running tier3 but still can get stomped on some rare maps. Simply put resists/life/energy shield not where it needs to be combined with some personal skill issues

So far the item drops are garbage. Currency seems good but the only way to upgrade my gear is with trade site

The game is a lot of fun...galactically better endgame then say d4 but the main reason for me to play long term is character development. A trading site as a necessity to upgrade gear basically short circuits the loot hunt for me....like save exalts, NEVER craft and trade for gear =(

Don't get me wrong diablo style loot storms were aweful.

back in the day D2 was insanely grindy once you had decent gear and running hell mode mephisto/cow runs

It just seems this early in end game and I cant get a single decent drop to wear in about 40 maps so far

Difficulty seems pretty good though I literally get either stun locked or sometimes one shot in breach or some similarly tight area but I feel most of the is skill issue

Do know. Just seem not super motivated to play

This is objectively incorrect.

First of all, there's always room to improve gear. For every character in the game. That improvement might not be realistically useful (you're not going to need to buy a 200 div item to add 1 value of an affix to replace your 199 div item)

We can't know without seeing your gear, but if you're feeling stuck on T3 I absolutely guarantee there is an inefficiency with your build, your tree, or literally 1ex purchases on trade that would push you to T4+.

As an experiment you could swap all your gear so that you have high defense layer (hp/mana/es whatever you're running) and all resists capped while ignoring any offensive stats. If you had that you'd be T10+ viable easily, getting more exp and more drops/currency. You could literally achieve this with only blue gear + regals where all stat lines on your 3 line gear are resists+(mana/life/es).

Secondly, solo self found players have done all content and hit level 100 and they can't trade.

So what you mean to say is you've hit your tolerance on the grind. Which is absolutely valid and up to you. I hit my tolerance usually a week or two into a league in poe1, where any given upgrade requires days of farming for currency or targeted drops. And that was with vastly more deterministic crafting options.
sounds like a skill issue
git gud bruh
Learning what's even a good base to craft on is a huge part of crafting useful items.

I used to slam exalts constantly until I had a buddy tell me to stop.

I'm at a point now where I know what's even worth hanging on to.

If you get an item with a good roll or two, it's worth continuing. But even one bad mad early, just drop it.

Tier 3 maps you aren't really going to get good drops, and I'd imagine your rarity % isn't all that high, either.
If you think you need the trade site you have a lack of basic understanding for gearing in this game.
The drops don't get better I have an almost level 90 witch and a level 92 sorc I've ran quite a lot of t15+ maps with tower buffs juiced waystones multi breaches and I've picked up like 4 or 5 items worth using out of thousands and thousands. All of my gear on my sorc I bought outside of my gloves and boots. My witch has a helmet and scepter I found that are decent. Crafting is a crapshoot taking on average far more resources than just trading for something. I've also never seen a perfect jewelers orb drop or a level 20 skill gem (I always run a t16 on a corrupted irradiated node when I have them).

well it seems ggg really dont need new players..

how to get game knowledge? with trying.. but most of build in this game depends on gear, how to get gear? drops sucks, trade is RMT hell hole..

Drops are better since the last patch especially map drops.. was finding it hard to even play end game due to the lack of laps i had dropping.. Could go three or more maps without even seeing one drop..

now I am getting multiple every map..

As for gear drops.. I get tons and tons of yellow drops sure majority are junk but they all get pushed into crafting mats.. that help me make decent enough gear..

Staying away from trade at the moment..

Honestly this argument is so bizzare to me. "someone did X at some point so you suck"..... objectively a very weak argument.

at no point did I say it was impossible to upgrade loot...What i said was the drop rates seem very low in comparison to the difficulty of the game. Making for an un fun boring grindr type experience where your best option for increasing power is to buy something someone else found

I am 100% willing to admit my skill deficiencies. I DO NOT look up builds and copy paste templates. I like to make my own and sometimes that is like tying 1 hand behind your back

With that said POE2 seems like 90% of your power is gear and you get very little (in terms of stats..dmg/res etc) from the passive tree

Just wanted to gauge others opinions.

Community as a whole is VERY toxic but I thought i'de ask.

insults dont bother me. ffrotty's answer seems the most legit
