clarification on skill gems requirement

my question. was tryng to equip a gem under the all gems category. in this case the close combat one. it says i have to reserve 5 dex. i tried equipping a item that had more dex,i also went to skill tree and clicked on add 5 dex. neither worked.

dod i do something wrong? i hovered over the gem and seen what skills i can apend them to and i had a open slot on few of them but still ant equip it

the requirements sum up
if you have multiple green ones you need more dex
or maybe you use the wrong weapon

When you move the support gem to the slot, it will give you a popup that warns you about what's stopping you from socketing it in there.

If you have the DEX for it (In the Skill window, look at the top to see how many of each type of gem color your stats will allow you to equip) and it wont let you, only 2 options remain:

- You have the same gem equipped elsewhere (can't slot the same support in multiple skills)

- The skill you are trying to socket the support into isn't a valid target.

The tooltip that pops up when you try to socket the gem will clarify which it is for you.

close combat isnt a skill gem, its a support gem

you are probably socketing this support gem into a skill that doesnt use "attack"

read the tag descriptions on top left when u hover over a skill. projectiles, spells, melee, persistent, strike dont always work together and could be your issue

if you are capped on gem capacity, then you need more dex. if u arent capped, adding more dex wont fix your issue. look at your skill menu for DEX ( X/X )

thanks, i did mean support but could not edit it while it was being reviewed

what i did not notice was when i hover over the gem , i did not see the -x- listed under supported gems.the text is way too small for me to see/ read easy

so i am sorry. ended up reading more on the netre: my questions first
