It's brutal but i accept that is the game design.
I entered Arrogat to kill a unique and see 2 Unique drops as i fell to the floor and knew that i would never ever posess them.
I was a ranger and one of them was a bow - it is brutal but it is the game.
This is the Dark Souls of ARPG's and I have come to accept it.
You can repeat the fight however ... just use the waypoint to go back to the location and fight the boss - if its not reset just hold ctrl when you click and create a new instance.
But the function you speak of is very Diablo 4 and ultimately there is a reason why the design between the 2 are quite different - they are to appeal to different tiers of ARPG players
