Act 3 Chimeral Trial of Chaos Ascendancy
I've failed Act 3 Ascendancy as a Witchhunter (Lvl 39-42) multiple times now, the room debuffs being the biggest issue for me so far. I chose an "all monsters have energy shield" and it made the Dragon boss unkillable, it flies away after an attack sequence, refilling the energy shield, and would take nearly a full sequence to break the ES without taking too much damage.
That was my first time making it to the boss with a decent roll on the room debuffs. I tried again, mowing through the first 3 rooms and got the Crow(?) boss, which I was doing a decent amount of damage to until I basically got 1 shot by bleed... Any help or recommendations? I feel like I'm already overlevelled and have changed my stats around about as much as I can. 75% Evasion with 10% resistances.

Maybe it just needs another go, but i'm taking a break for the night, lol. skill issue.

Keep stacking honor resistance as priority. 2nd and 3rd should be max honor and then increased dmg to boss's. When I did my last ascendancy I had almost 10k resis and ended the trial with around 5k+. Once your resis is stacked you can take more hits and dmg. Another buff that really helps is the speed boost stacked with 30% movement speed on your boots.

If you can not bypass the energy shield it means that your damage is too low.

My advice ?

1.Use any poison to break ES ,ES is quite weak due to poison damage and bleed.
2.Bleed damage went through ES directly.
3.Have some damage ,if you can not break the ES of the boss that mean your basic skill deal too low damage.

You don't have to focus on defense that much ,many attacks require dodging instead of evasion and armor.

If you take too long to kill something, your defense won't help you.
just keep trying eventually youll get a set of chaos rooms that dont ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ you as hard. The chimera is the easiest of the bosses tho.

you do understand they are talkin about trial of chaos not sekhmas, but i agree some of those debuffs goin into a boss room is nuts in chaos

If you can, try to stack the Lightning Rune circles to 3. It makes them bigger, but you still have to stand in them for a while before anything happens, so they're practically a free mod. You can trigger them when the boss is away to clear the floor space. Taking the "plus rare, plus mods", won't affect the boss. It'll just make getting there a little rough. The one that spawns the Vaal AoE machine is pretty free for bosses, too. Just fight away from them. Try to avoid anything that makes the boss tankier, or guts your defense. Volatile sucks, but not as bad as the Large Physical Damage circles. Those can be room wide, and center on you, so you're constantly moving.

75% evasion is kinda high for that level unless you got some real good gear and / or are running Wind Dancer.
10% resistances are way too low. Any ground AoE will murder you.
Respec out of evasion and get some damage. Damage is king in PoE.
Other than that I'd need to see your actual build to comment more.

Learn what your build can handle and pick debuffs accordingly. Don't go crazy with stuff on the ground.

50% damage as extra Chaos damage sounds scary, but it does literally nothing if you're dodging and not getting hit by monsters. Compare to that a giant rotating pyramid in the middle of the room constantly forcing you to move or take ramping damage.

The latter is basically a run-ender unless you have enough damage to one-shot bosses, which you don't at that level.

I'm running Wind Dancer and I think I have enough damage, more a matter of getting murked by the birds. Got multiple runs in a row of nearly killing and then on a fluke or lack of awareness getting nailed by one of the blood mortars or something else I couldn't see.. The single fight I had against the Chimera was with the energy shield lol, just couldn't widdle it down in time with how much it moves off screen so I basically just gave up. All my runs since have been really close encounters with either of the birds.. At this point i'm level 44 but almost got it and can recognize the patterns now. Thanks again for all the feedback!
