Night and Day-Easiest Class to Play
I have played the Monk to about 30th level, and my experience is that the Monk was kind of difficult to play. He died constantly and boss battles always took several tries.

Now playing the witch with a strong minion build. At 5th level, she is mowing through the earlier bosses with relative ease, and has not died once. The monk, on the other hand, at 5th, had died several times and definitely required me to fight bosses several times.

Maybe, it's just my play style and pet classes are better for me. I have always played pet builds in Diablo, such as the Necromancer and the Witch Doctor.

early in this game gear means a lot. so that could be a factor too. if you find a good weapon or good defense item early on it makes a huge difference.

could be a number of reasons why the monk didnt work for you, but they are one of the strongest builds out.

Really not the case with summon witch. Arsonists are crazy strong. You could nearly play naked on the witch and it would still work out.

But if you also got gear with it while leveling... its crazy
I have played witch, sorc, warrior and merc to about level 25 and just started Ranger to get a feel for who i like, and i think ranger so far is the most powerful with the least effort, arrows are fast and deadly. Merc shooting was slow and needed multiple shots. I think merc was the worst and i tried so far
Though level 25 means nothing i guess lol

Just as a heads up. Do not rely soley on evasion >.<
But yeah ... ranger, specially deadeye is kinda crazy currently. Mana hungry but crazy dps.
Think that was my first no death run through the campaign with ranger :D

take a look at how many movement speed nodes are located near the Ranger starting point on the passive tree, and then look at the Pathfinder ascendancy movement options. Combo that movement with 25-30% movement speed boots, and possibly even movement support gems and it's like everything else moves in slow motion. pin, or any other movement debuff just for kicks. it's nuts.
As somebody who tried every class (25-72 level) I can say monk is the most brainless easy AF class especially when you get the bell (bossfights) and Ice Strike for trashmobs....

I mean, early game yeah, witch is just as bad in that regard.

But every class has a build that is kinda braindead.
The starting experience is really unbalanced yeah
I hope they tune the classes to start out a bit more strong, since currently it's just a bow swap on every class to speedrun Act 1 which is a bit boring

These are my thoughts on it, exactly. Minions are a free decent Early weapon.

Invoker Monk is arguably the strongest class in the game, or one of the strongest.

Yeah because invoker gets so much free stuff xD

Free spirit, free phys reduction, free freze, nearly free crit. just from tree. Insane ES + evasion.

Keep playing. When you reach the Act 1 Boss, you'll realize the Monk was WAY easier than the Witch. A level 5 Witch hasn't even begun to feel pain yet.
