Shields
Are shields supposed to stun lock you when you get hit?

I feel like this is a bug.

Wear a shield for passive block chance, dont use the skill at all to MANUALLY BLOCK.. Strafe while mapping and any hit that "blocks" when it makes that dunk sound from block chance and you get stunned a tiny bit. Subsequent hits in a row makes you pretty much stun locked then you get bodied.

People that use shields in their builds do you have this issue? Also lastly to add stun threshold doesnt contribute to negating this effect at all with higher or lower amounts of it.

1 person pointed out block recovery in the tree but there is only 1 node for it and its 40%.

None of that feels right.

So they changed how shields worked from poe1?
Drake Jan 18 @ 4:42am
It's intended, you can get block recovery in the tree.

I never noticed it on my infernalist but now that I am using a machine shield mana stacking on a sorc everytime I get hit I get stun locked and bodied sometimes. Not running maps with stun build up either, just ANY hit does this.

it didt work like that in 1. And if they did change it, its a worse type of systerm.

Holy that is so bad...

Only 2 nodes on the whole tree for this.... Why

In 1, when you blocked you would not see it, and the block animation would only play when you infact got stunned. Otherwise it just played in the background.

It did work like that in poe 1. Block also had a recovery time.

https://pathofexile.fandom.com/wiki/Blocking
https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Blocking

Both sites says that "If it would not have caused a stun, then you get a "free" block with no animation."

Its also not the only thing that works differently then 1, armor for one is weaker then 1.
PoE1 Blocking.
Block duration
"Because block rolls after mitigation, when a hit is blocked, the game has already calculated the defender's damage taken, and whether that damage would have stunned. If it would have caused a stun, the blocking animation is played, stunning you briefly.[8] If it would not have caused a stun, then you get a "free" block with no animation.

Faster Block and Stun Recovery and Increased Block Recovery modifiers reduce the length of the blocking animation."

Are you holding down the block button and letting your meter fill? If your stun Stagger meter fills up you will be giga stunned.
Edit: Lower left side of the UI you will see a tiny bar. Thats your stagger meter.

You also play a animation when you get staggered(you step back or looks like you got pushed, unlike just been stunned in poe1), and the bar gets orange/red when it fills up and you get staggered.

No this is passively using the shield with the block chance.

Thats what the top part of the comment is yes. Unless you mean that you are using the passive block? Which would then mean they changed it, or that its broken in some way.

Top part is how block works in PoE1. For PoE2 i'm actually not sure despite my main character being a max block build.

Problem is, I got so much stun threshold, I almost never get stunned.
I think they did change it in PoE2. I don't think blocking a hit will stun you. If it could stun you, I feel like I would be getting stunned more often.

OP, my only guess is that enough hits are slipping past your passive block chance to stunlock you. Maybe, tbh I wouldn't bet money on it because I really don't know for sure.

What you describe seems more like a stun issue as I never had that problem playing warrior with shield. Get more life or stun threshold.
