Path of Exile 2

Path of Exile 2

Any hope of this actually leaving Early Access?
I know the store page says "6 months", but I also didn't expect it to reach hundreds of thousands of concurrent players and it's making me worried. Now a quick search on the forums says it won't be out for a year. What's going on? This seems kind of extreme, even for GGG.

They always have stated at least 6 months. Never 6 months

Probably closer to a year. Lots of missing content and a whole lot more balancing work to be done.

Yeah, but there's a whole 6-month gap between "at least 6 months" and "12 months"

12 months is still more than 6 months, but the basic part remains the same, it'll be at least 6 months, it'll need to go through quality assurance, legal and other such teams before they'll say it's ready for official release and then they'll probably give a date then as they work mostly on final bug fixing, at least that is what I'd expect the reasons are, so they do not know yet how long it'll exactly take, just longer than 6 months.

It will come out when it's ready, no one who matters cares lol.
Good games don't happen on pressure.

The bigger the playerbase the faster it will be with bugfixes etc.. thing is though i believe GGG released it just before xmas just so they would get everyone at home so the playerbase would have lots of free time, though in that time although fixes are being done.. its still very much early beta in my opinion, despite how much i love the game and have played it everyday since release i find that just from the recent patch alone says a absolute ton about how much truly does need to be fixed.

So as for when its truly live.. i'd say a year might be closer to the truth.. i mean there's various factors too.. like audience retention in a sense, you know what people are like nowadays.. they seem to up and quit and just head to the next straight off the bat or they get bored during endgame and are for the most part constantly demanding more and more content and yet the game needs more fixing than more content.. the numbers of people playing will drop overtime and it wont take that long either.. its early days this is just how it goes. Same thing happened to Poe1 many years ago, though nowadays it seems to be much harder to keep peoples attention.. but they will always drift back overtime.. even if they quit.. they always do. lol.

You think 6 other classes, 6 other weapons, 3 more Acts, and all the fixes for that will be done in 6 months? Not to mention anything else they have not mentioned.

You need to step back into reality.

And they did stat at least 6 months but could take a year. So you arguing this is moot.

it will be more on the year side with the amount that is coming and prob around 3-4 resets/leagues too with the amount they will have to balance and they wont nerf in session.

Calm down. Frankly, I don't know why they're doing a paid-entry EA period at all. Obviously, no one has a problem with playing the current version of the game. It's a live service that, I assume*, will continue getting updates long after the EA period is over. It's no different than the early days of PoE1, and it probably also has microtransactions enabled*.
*Correct me if I'm wrong.

If you want to step into reality, the reality is that this EA period only exists to siphon more money out of you, just straight-up. When you start focusing on "6 more classes and 3 more acts", you forget that this is a P2P title that was presented as a F2P game. There was no real reason for you to spend money just to play this.

Anyway, like Spaced said, I'll just have to come back in a year and see what's up then.
We are still in beta testing.

2 years for launch 5 years for the game to be fun

Nah, that's pretty spot on.

There's almost zero chance that this game will not leave early access eventually. Will probably take longer than the 6 month minimum they set, but I don't think there's any chance they abandon the project before release and/or never have it leave early access.
