Trading is bad because this community is toxic and the game is a dump, wake up mate.
A long time ago, in POE1, the Devs vowed to never do an auction house. Very dumb in my opinion.
Using the website and meeting people for trades is tedious. For console users it must be even worse.
Seriously this mechanic needs fixing. I tried to comment in regards to this on global chat and all I got was a 10 minute ban for saying a bad word that hurts peoples feelings in a game that is adult AF. There is really messed up priorities with gamer's times in regards to this. And I don't know one player yet that the non-responses does not piss off. Either this, or actual orb penalties for missing a trade.
or economics in general. like the above poster
just 100% clueless
i dont think you will see an AH ingame, they want traffic for their trade site.....
History lesson:
Diablo ditched the RMAH because they also tweaked drop rates to force you to use it. Literally coded in reductions in class usable loot so that you would have to sell the useless crap you did get to afford the right gear another class was getting.
Which is why after they ripped out the RMAH they had to completely overhaul the loot system.
POE doesnt mess with the loot drops based on your class, so an in-game board you can use to directly purchase things from other players will not negatively affect the economy.
It will solve the biggest issue plaguing the trade website: *People putting up 1Ex trades for desirable gear with the explicit intent to never respond to any messages or offers in order to trick unsuspecting players into matching their price and then swooping in to grab it so they can flip it for its actual value.
That tactic is literally impossible in a system where you place an item for sale and another player simply buys and receives it immediately.
Market flippers exist in the current website and archaic trade system we have right now.
No one in their right mind would post a desirable item for 1Ex in an environment where someone else can snap it up instantly.
The best solution IMO is to leave website trading and its associated need for private messages and manual trades in hideouts in as an option.
Then they create a marketboard utilising the same system we have for Currency Exchange.
Simply put in the item and modifiers you are looking for and how many Exalt/Divines you're willing to pay.
Someone else looks at the current "want" listings and finalises a trade if they feel the currency offered is acceptable and they have a matching item.
Others can post up "I have" on an item in their premium tab that they want to sell and create a listing others can browse and accept if they feel the offer is acceptable.
Done. Now both sides can trade in a way they feel is superior.
AH will solve trading problems but it is not going to solve scalper, market trader and bot problems. To solve those you need trade tax. Significant trade tax so if those bots and market trader do trade flipping they will go bankrupt in 1 hr.
