how does recombinator work ?

is it like last epoch where i can take a weapon with a suffix or affix i want, then say,

attack speed 10% from the disposable weapon,

second weapon - (my main) choose life on kill 2 ,

outcome 10% attack speed on my main weapon instead of 2 life on kill?

or will it create a whole new weapon with other randomized mods and stats
