Supposedly, there's tons of new Support Gems. Plus new Skill gems. Got to wait a few months just to see what new combination there is.

over 25+ new skills.
over 100+ new supports.
over 100+ new Uniques.

So yea there's going to be a bunch of new builds.
The nerfs are a good change imo. yeah it sucks that our old characters are not as powerful, but there's a new season! Its not like I was playing my old characters any more anyways. Now everyone has to essentially relearn the game as if it was a fresh launch. no "rush to end game meta" just plain old trial and error to see what builds perform well again! which creates loads of content for streamers, and also tones of extra hrs learning for players. Super excited! I think the nerfs essentially killed the old season which just means the new season will have more people playing it and a reset economy! Perfect for EA testing phases.

There are two types of VERY STRONG builds in poe. Abusive and creative.
Those builds that abuse some mechanics, driving the numbers sky-high - are nerfed to the bottom. Always. They are considered developer mistakes.
Those builds that use bundles of unpopular mechanics, items, skills, etc., which give out numbers along with difficult-to-implement gameplay, or some other restrictions - are nerfed to an adequate level. A good example is Maw of Mistchief. The build still works. It just kills one shaper per second instead of 10.
That's why STOP WHINING ABOUT NERFS. They're pouring twice as much sand into your sandbox as before.
I'm fine with the nerfs, they never intended this game to play like D4 release evade hack spiritborn. Or PoE 1 mapping out the gate. 1 button builds should be few and far in between, not so strong playing anything else is pointless because they delete everything (by how they describe the game). I'm sure hyper late game you will start to reach that point. But it wasn't hard to reach that point with low amounts of currency. Budget screen wipe builds were the norm, instead of the exception. I didn't jump ship from Diablo 4 to just play Diablo 4, and if I wanted to play POE1 I can just go back to that game.

I guess the best way I can put it is I only pressed 1 button so much in diablo 4 I mapped it to DS4 on turbo so I could play with one hand while I doomscrolled tiktok. In POE 2 while I was required to use 4 buttons, that was just so I could use 2 bells, charged staff, and tempest flurry with the occasional blink lol. It was actually a dps loss to use any of the other combo moves, or cool interesting mechanics they added to classes. Teleport strike was fun, but why bother when everything dies quicker with tempest flurry on a stack stacker, with a Pillar of the caged god.

Same thing with crossbow, why do all the set up for cool oil splash grenades etc.... When I just need to use rapidfire, emergency reload, and the occasional boss killer skill.
Most of them were necessary. Some are "meh", and a couple of them are downright dirty. That being said, I'm looking forward to the new class and seeing what all the new support gems offer on top of the new/modified content.

They need to funnel people into the new content to properly test it, and that cant happen if everyone rolls another busted herald monk, gemling, or spark mage for the new league...

Fine with it. The game needed it for sure. Better to happen earlier on in the games life, then later when it's in 1.0.
I don't mind at all. We're literally just hitting patch 0.2, I'm expecting balance to be flipped on its head every major patch until close to release, not reaching anything resembling stability until a few patches after the game is content-complete.

Yes, it'll wreck some of my old builds. So what, the nature of PoE and its leagues mean I'm forever creating new characters anyway, they were never intended to last forever.
