Minions are fine and in good balance state.
Other classes should be balanced to be on same lvl as minions +-
You know d4's new season has started. But you've spent 5 hours a day on average playing this game since release instead of playing the blizzard game that is actually a finished product. I think that answers your question. Seems like GGG does it better in your opinion.
It's not that there aren't downsides to running minions as well. You need to do minion-herding, especially in tight quarters with lots of turns. Still, on the whole, running a minion build lets you short your defenses a lot more than other folks can afford.
