My resistances are not close to being at 75% or higher. The highest I have is 47% and fire is in the red. That is fine cause I rarely get hit (do not give them a chance). I am still working on the build and still learning how the more advanced skills/persistence works. But from what I have learned, I have progressed pretty far with my second monk build.
Also, I never use trade. Presently my monk has a 113% Items find and doing well in finding plenty of currency and gear.
I am no expert, but so far this build is fun. I use ice as my main but keep with ranged. It complements the critical chances well.
What I also learned is to master the "click" for a monk and its combo attacks. if you are able to master the click targeting with attacks, they are a great mobility tool.
A monk can be useful without the present meta. I never used the bell and been doing things easy. Just learn it's mobility and how some skills work.
I am thinking of my next monk being pure poison and chaos. It is more specific of a build so less branches to worry about in passives. I do have Plaguefinger (pre-div). It is what made me think of the chaos build.
But then the monk passives make me want to build a monk with dual wield hammers. Crit stun build,
I am hoping the upcoming weapon, claws, are considered unarmed and a weapon. It would make a good combo with monk and all the unarmed skills.
But the shenanigans on the Avatar were more 'some stuff just needs work' more so than anything else.
I was having fun with just an ice build till I got Painter's glove as a drop around lvl 20-ish. Then I was curious about a full spectrum crit build. THen I was just entertaining "what if" ideas with my primary monk.
SO yeah, fun/shenanigans should be a key part of a build to enjoy your time. It also helps you get the juices flowing for other class theory crafting too. A warrior with a quarterstaff sounds fun. Since warrior has a lot of AOE passives, imagine what you can do with the monk skills?
