CPU deadlocks
Is it so bad that I shouldn't buy this game right now? I see reviews about it being an issue but I haven't seen a deep dive as to why it is so bad.

I personally haven't had any issues since launch. The game runs not as well as i hoped but far from it not being playable/its good for EA standards. Also this is a brand new game with way better visuals than poe 1 so perhaps we just need new future hardware.

It could be a issue but honestly my system has not bricked or shown signs at all of bricking yet after 170 hours and the other two people that play with me haven't as well (Just bad performance if their pc is lower end, nothing breaking tho)

If you want to be safe then just wait for them to release their latest patch they teased to fix the latest windows update crashes and then once that is done just switch from DX12 to Vulkan once you get the game just to make sure no problems arise.
Buy and test yourself.
If that would be an issue for you, just refund it.
If you buy early access you cannot refund. It deadlocked my PC, and I read about CPU damage, im also waiting to hear if its fixed before I go back to it. I couldnt refund the EA key, and the game will be free soon enough. I would wager this will be fixed when it gets to live.

The CPU deadlock would be the least of your problems tbh, you are better off waiting when they release it for free in playable state.
lmao it's very "playable" like all day long.

I've never seen a hard lock - or a hard reset for that matter, result in any damage except to the operating system which almost always recovers.
It does however have very high system reqs for technical reasons (# of on screen objects is very high compared to similar games) also its the kind of game that will fool you into playing it until you discover you can't really run it worth a darn past the starting beach.

It's for AMD users, there's also some crashes going on for WIN11 users, you can totally bypass the locks on AMD disabling core 0 and core 1, then if it gets locked use the task manager to promote process priority to real time, else just download the crash fixer from github wich does the same thing.

bossfight lags getting annoying
I was having the pc lockups issue pretty often. I just stopped playing it for now.

For me personally, it ran perfect on modest settings up until December 22nd 2024 I believe. After that I started having my computer freeze and had to hold my power button in to reset because nothing else worked. I believe that might have been the windows 11 update issue in my case. I will know if it does not freeze again when I try it. I also read there were some other issues with amd something and another with nvidia.

I saw they may have added or will be adding a fix for those, so I will have to try again soon.

Patch 0.1.1c could potentially fix the windows 11 thing according to notes, idk if they launched it yet

Its running fine for me im using windows 10 a 13th gen intel chip and a 3070, from what i've heard there's a couple things going around. 1 is apparently a manufacturing error in 13th and 14th intel CPUs which is only coming to light when they're put under load, i got mine a couple months ago so we'll see if it breaks. And 2 a recent update to windows 11 broke some stuff and GGG has found a workaround on their end.

Steam quote
Are Early Access games eligible for refunds? Early Access games qualify for refunds the same as other purchases - playtime and date of purchase are both considered.

not the game crashing thats the problem , microsoft caused all the issues with a patch a couple months back that stopped ubisoft and other devs games from working.
run poeuncrasher as admin before starting poe2.

You can bypass the crashes simply by disabling engine multithreading before loading in and out of maps. It’s such a straightforward fix that you’d think GGG could easily implement it properly. Yet, they refuse to address the issue. Honestly, it’s almost comical.

The main issues are with Windows 11 24H2.. its coursed lots of issues with other games as well.. so if you don't have that then you will probably be fine.
