Another Trial of the Sekhema's Rant
This trial is so unfair to the warrior class. I have done the third trial easily solo with my Chronomancer and Witchunter both lower level by 6 and 3 levels with worse gear. My Warbringer is 79 and I am down to 300 honor on a 62 instance. My Warbringer is my all around best character and can map far higher than my other characters....but this trial by it's very nature severely punishes front line fighters.

I have 90+% armor (7% additional physical damage reduction from my shield), 75% block and a piddly 30 evasion thrown in for variety and maxed resist including chaos, but I can not solo complete this trial as a Warbringer after several attempts so far. My lower level characters did it first try with it being laughably easily for the Merc. I also have very good honor resistance relics. I simply can'♥ avoid getting ground down by the nicks and cuts to my honor over the course of three floors. I can easily make it through the first 2 floors before the twins fight with my honor intact, but by the time the twins and the third rolls around and you can be toting up to a dozen afflictions it is very hard to have enough honor to go in to the final boss fight even though I pick honor restore rewards every time. The twins will always take a big chunk of honor from me. Even with HotG the way you have to time the fight to kill them both within 10 seconds of each other or face a harder 2nd phase fight it requires you to drag the fight out as a warrior and thus take more dings to honor.

Speed running it hasn'♥ worked on the third floor because by then the mobs are tough enough to actually hit you and are plentiful enough that you can'♥ just leap slam over/shield charge passed them and avoid fighting and many a time I have been fighting a gang of mobs in the final room when the trial was "complete" because they followed me in. So I am still actively fighting and sometimes taking honor hits when the trial is over. With my Sorc or Merc I simply throw an icewall or sentry up and that keeps them from following. For some reason ancestral totem doesn'♥ keep them occupied the same way.

it's just very frustrating because it is a central game element and I very much like to try to do these things solo but this just isn'♥ one that allows for one specific class to have a reasonable chance to do it solo. I have only done it with the 3 above mentioned classes but I strongly suspect that with the right level I could solo it with any class easily, except warrior. I just feel like the trial should be a test of your skill not your class selection.

If you have 90% armor and 75% block on a level 79 character then you are almost certainly running a zero DPS build. A HoG should be borderline-oneshotting both golems if you are using your warcries correctly and have any damage at all in your build. Especially on a level 62 instance.

My mercs highest DPS attack is plasma blast (though grenades really do more damage) and it is only 25K.

They just need to make it so taht you don't lost honour abovea certain hp threshold, for example 90%
ghoststory 2 月 4 日 上午 4:03
I've done it recently from the first try with my 75 lvl Titan 2,6k hp, 65% armor, 73% block (lvl 66 dungeon).
It wasn't difficult, there was 2600 honor left after i had killed the last boss (and I had pretty bad debuffs like -40% dmg, bc I had taken this stupid debuff with random rooms). But I didn't speedrun it, just played very carefully each room killing all the mobs except the trial with crystals ofc.
I've got about 4k honor and about 50% honor resist total I believe (honor resist is very important). 12k total damage from mace and 57.700-89.200 with HoTG.
(Twins were killed without -40% dmg debuff)

This is at level 89, but most of my points have gone into utility past 80. Supports are Exploit Weakness, Lacerate and Heavy Swing, so the only thing affecting sheet DPS is Heavy Swing. With Infernal Cry, Rage, broken armor, bleed and ignite factored in damage should be above 1 mil at least (quick, rough napkin math).

What on God's green earth are those support gems in you HoG?
Why do you have Culling Strike, Unreakable and Ingenuity in there?
No wonder it hits like a wet sock. It's effectively a two-link because the other 3 gems are useless.

You also don't even have Infernal Cry on your skill bar.

You not being able to get your trial done has nothing to do with honour or melee and everything to do with your build.

I can understand where OP is coming from, but it's not really "Unfair". It's just that it's a test of skill that they're slamming into.

Any ranged character is going to have an easier time with pretty much any content. Their entire gameplan is to avoid damage by just not being there when it lands. Warriors NEED to be able to block, not just tank. That's why carrying a shield, even if you're a 2H build, is so important. Raw tanking attacks is bad juju. You GOTTA learn when to parry, when to roll, and when to attack, rather than trying to tank. That's just the nature of the mechanic.

Is it harder for a warrior? Sure. And maybe for melee classes they could do something like increasing max honor to compensate a bit and provide a little more buffer, but until you learn the patterns you're going to struggle regardless.

It's a mindset thing. Treat the game like you're playing dark souls, not an IsoRPG. Don't expect armor to carry you, learn how to avoid damage even if you could tank it normally.

I don't use any cries. I play as sorta a Paladin build. It's just what is fun for me. I don't have any issues in the rest of the game it's just this trial. I solo juiced up maps fine. I have ingenuity in there to use it more often. Does it not work that way? And culling strike my thinking was hits hard, now it hits harder. I usually use HotG once a boss is already about 60% dead. I honestly didn't notice unbreakable in there and can't recall why I put it in. I swapped it for concentrated. Thank you for that.

as others mentioned, its a dps problem. i cant even recall having any issue with my titan. pretty sure i just stampeded around and 2 shot the bosses.
equinox1911 2 月 4 日 上午 4:30
omg i missed the whole culling strike on HotG! its probably the worst skill in game to use culling strike with!!!
culling strike checks the health percent before the hit dmg is done, if the threshold is met the enemy dies. so you want to hit often, not hard..

Your choice, but that's a massive damage loss on bosses.

Understood. i didn't know that. My thinking was I use it as a finisher so it would be an even better finisher.

Well my Warbringer could do the 3rd Trial rather comfortable.
Only Problem was the final Bossfight. And the 2nd Bossfight vs the 2 guys where you have to look out for AOE before you go in.

I did level 63 Trial on a level 77 Warbringer

I tweaked HotG up to 99K. I do appreciate the input. Now I feel like my Witchunter playing keepaway waiting to drop the big shot. I wanted to be the take whatever they throw out tank and it is in the rest of the game, but that is a dumb tactic in Sekhema.

You don't need to play defensively / at range if you have enough damage all the way until floor 4. That's the only time I felt the need to switch to Molten Blast since some of the monsters there are extremely annoying, do high honour damage and slams don't reach over terrain.

Not having good damage is not an option in PoE even if you play a tanky character. It's not a holy-trinity MMO where you have a party. You're the only guy there so you have to be able to kill stuff or you will end up taking more damage than somebody with lower defenses but more damage because you make fights last much longer.
