Path of Exile 2

Path of Exile 2

Your guess on percentage of concurrent players being bots?
1%, 5%, 50%?

This forum used to be much more active at league start and is very slow right now. Even though, the playercount on steam only decreased like 2 times.

It's currently 154k players, a month ago at league start it was 350k players average.

And yet something gives the vibe that the amount of players decreased not by around 2 times but much much more. The town's are significantly emptier, both steam and official forum is less active, youtube video content while still pretty active might not give the vibe of the number 7 most played game on steam, the hype around this game appears to be less in youtube views much more than 2 times.

What's your quick thought?

Edit:
Also, the playercount appears very very stable, so stable that it appears unusual to me, as if it's inflated by most of the clients running 24/7.

I saw such stability before in a dead steam game called Prismata. You can check how many maximum players it had for a short time. It was 121k bots farming steam cards due to an exploit.

So it wouldn't be surprising that a party is capable of hundreds of thousands of bots.

It depends if you get hung up on player numbers via any game, but more so with an EA game. All that should matter is if you're enjoying your experience and sure in certain circumstances player numbers might matter..... But overall its a real pointless "talking" point, spewed out for some reason or another.

The player count is currently the same as a poe1 league launch and it isn't surprising its the same for every ARPG you do the content or new league mechanics over 4-6 weeks then when your done you wait for the next one.

its the same as last epoch,poe1,D4 etc its the nature of the genre.

You'll get some falloff from people that got caught in the hype that had no idea about poe but for 20 its not a real risk compared to a 60 game. And when 0.2.2 comes out it will go massively back up again.

Without a doubt, most players are bots because RMT is allowed, and the Fans love RMT.
RMT prices set by GGG (thru Tencent) who owns these sites. Imagine supporting a company like this.

Those poor devs. Getting abused by these greedy companies.

Well it could affect my enjoyment of the game if I learned that the economy is very greatly affected by non players and I played trade league.

When someone thinks of bots they probably think "Yeah I guess that sucks" but the vibe they will give off is that they believe most online count is made of players, these are real people, basically an MMO, we are all playing this together, figuring out strategies, sharing experiences, discussing how to trade with other humans.

But I would bet that the playercount would be reduced at least 10 times if this game was singleplayer. It's the interaction and being a part of something bigger that makes this game popular. Even MMO players while avoiding content that is party-gated, they still enjoy knowing that they are not alone in the world, there's other humans doing stuff, it makes them feel good.

Now imagine if they found out that they are alone, and it's a fake multiplayer game.

Yes, but what I am saying, is that the current player count is actually higher than expected, and higher than what the activity in off-game platforms would reflect. We are in late league now.

So im guessing you think this game is mostly bots? And if you think so, please show some proof of this point your trying to make. Where are you getting this from btw?

No I don't, I was asking for thoughts of other humans. The inspiration for the post was the vibe I described in OP and further posts.

Most people are busy playing, not typing on the forums.

I Think alot of people are trying new classes when normally they wouldn't, i did 3 level 90s before i stopped putting crazy hours into it and ill still play a hour or 2 every day it a additive game, I've played most if not all major ARPGS since the first Diablo and ive put more time into poe2 the last 2 months than ive done in anything else including poe1 and i love that game.

You will get players just sitting in hideouts just 100% trading waiting on whispers but that was the same in poe1.
