cpu issue?
i was wondering if anyone else has had their cpu die from playing this game? I had a ryzen 7 7800 x3d with my newest pc that i built a back in september 2024 with no problems. i have about 250 hours in the game since day 1 release.

i run a ryzen 7 3700x over clocked with windows pro. I have no issues with the game crashing. poe2 barely throttles the box, 3060 is the graphics card and I pump 90 frames now since the nvidia update. DSll has to be turned on in the game settings. this box is 4 years old currently. I am waiting for the amd video card release to build a new box. You might want to run a stress test or two to see if the box is stable under load.. Idol conditions and game load are two different states and might cross a problem that a stress test might expose.

Ryzen 5 3600X. No issues so far in 200 hours.

i have a AMD Ryzen 5 2600X Six-Core Processor 3.60 GHz and sometimes hit the 100 degree celsius so idk this spagetticode game will burn my house down to the gound ...

You can check your CPU temperatues in benchmarks, they are mostly free software. If it gets hotter than its supposed to - you need to change thermal paste, clean your coolers, adjust cpu FAN curve... Whatever is needed to get it back to normal temperatues under load.

Software should never break your hardware, unless you're overclocking it.
nahh bro im not overclocking and yes i will give it a try (benchmark test) but no other game let hit my cpu 100 degrees ...

This game doesn't really use a lot of my CPU. CPU at a constant 30% and my GPU is at 50-60% so i rather doubt anything will happen to your CPU unless u left it for years without cleaning/paste.

Some AMD Machines have spikes to 100% CPU usage in POE2 during map loading, causing hard crashes and potentional dmg to you PC.
It's connected to WIN 11 24H2 update with some AMD CPU and NVIDIA cards combo.
It's has not been fixed for almost 2 months now as the WIN update came out on like 6 December or something.
It's not a small portion of community who suffer from this but GGG does not know how to fix it.

100% cpu usage means it's loading something.
No you're not going to damage your hardware unless you're bypassing safety measures by the OS, or you have hardware with manufacturer "defects" with power consumption (13000/14000 intels), or inproper installation/inadequate pairing

At worst, a bsod might mean you need to fix a corrupted mbr, it's not the end of the world.

If your cpu is going beyond temp limits, it's not the game, it's your set up. Nobody buys hardware with a disclaimer that says "These are our max speeds under 2 seconds of full load, make sure you stay 20% below full utilization at all times." You should look into your computer and make sure everything is installed properly. The game is only bringing a flaw in it to the surface, not creating one.

Inadequate ventilation/bad air flow in case.
Mismatched cooler.
Improperly installed cooler.

etc.

Hitting above 95 is on your setup; if it weren't the game utilizing it, it'd eventually be something else.

if dying means getting nearly heat death, than yes. Ryzen 7950x3d here on 80+ degrees and red blinking fans. So yeah, same for me.

but guys it isnt about spagetti code its about our bad pc setup and air flow

If your cpu reaches 100°C while under load, you should get a better cpu cooler or maybe clean your rig.

You are fine, all Ryzen cpus can handle 90°C just fine. Doesn't mean that they should.
But if you're around 80-85°C on full load, nothing will happen and your cpu will be fine besides a negligible faster day of death.
I get around 70-75°C while under full 100% load which would be considered as high from other peeps but it's totally fine, even your 80-85°C are just fine and will not damage your hardware.
