Path of Exile 2

Does the passive skill Icebreaker work with Eldritch Battery?
I have 3000 ES with Eldritch Battery, since I also have the Everlasting Gaze equipped.
My amulet is anointed with Icebreaker, yet I still get frozen.
Since there is no UI to check this, I am wondering if the skill even works with Eldritch Battery.
I can see three scenarios:
1.) The Icebreaker skill calculates more freeze threshold based on my sheet max energy shield, which would be 3000
2.) The Icebreaker skill calculates after Eldritch Battery is applied but before Everlasting Gaze, so it does nothing at all.
3.) The Icebreaker skill calculates based on my base ES without any increase ES mods applied (so just the raw stat values from gear) before Eldritch Battery and before Everlasting Gaze even come into effect.

Which is it? Does anyone know?

All conversion and gains happen at the same time and before any increases. It uses your base ES.

So number 3? Basically, what I got from gear?

That should be the case, yes. Note that if you use Ghostwrithe or the ES conversion helmet only the base stats of those would apply to "Gain % of Maximum Energy Shield as additional Freeze / Stun Threshold" stuff.

If you run Chaos Inoculation with that stun can be a real issue.

I am aware of that, same as with the fact that only the base mana applies to everlasting gaze and that %max mana increases do not factor in :)
Thank you for this, one more question though:
If I were to unequip my everlasting gaze, I would have effectively 0 ES. However, my base ES would still be whatever I have from armor. So Icebreaker would still work, right?
Everlasting gaze has no effect on icebreaker. Its ES you gain after icebreaker calculation. Equip it and unequip it as you like, sell it, buy it, wear 100 gazes at once - no effect on icebreaker.

Things has to work this way to avoid infinite cycles.

Conversion happens before everything else except base addition.

So with eldritch battery you have 0 base ES, not your base ES from equipment, which is effectively mana now. So icebreaker has no effect.

Absolutely no effect?

100% * 0 = 0. It's in all conversions tooltip in the game. The base value is converted before everything else happens.

So when you pick eldritch battery all the base ES sources are now mana sources, your base ES is gone.

This is not poe 1. You can't double dip on conversions anymore.
