Path of Exile 2

Melee is at Severe Disadvantage Constantly
I don't want to be the big complainer here, but I am currently a level 89 monk, and obviously I am running melee. I am doing T15/16 maps like they're nothing because they're extremely easy at this rate, that is until I get to the rare modifiers on rare enemies and bosses. Each and every single one of them punishes melee gameplay SIGNIFICANTLY MORE than range. I will absolutely breeze through a T16 delirium juiced up map and get to the boss that of course has flame trails and all sorts of other bs modifiers that I can hardly counter or literally cannot counter at all. The flame trails one is the biggest issue I feel. There is quite literally nothing you can do to not get hit by it. If you want to do damage, you need to melee the boss, but if you melee the boss, you are gonna take ridiculous damage over time that punishes you for literally doing what you're supposed to do. I have max resistances. I don't have some god tier build, but it's clearing my screen instantly, and it's doing about 500k+ dps ish, which isn't horrible. I literally leave the map when I face bosses with these modifiers bruh. It's not even possible. A 3-4 million hp+ boss that has forced dot if I hit it on top of the fact that he already will do a good bit of damage if he hits me is actually so stupid. It just drains my health pot because there are no other adds to kill, so I am just forced to die. If I had a crossbow or something, quite literally none of these modifiers would matter like, AT ALL. But because I am a monk I am inherently disadvantaged against every single one of these modifiers each time, and it's blocking me from completing content I am more than capable of doing. Either reduce/change the effectiveness of some of these modifiers, or add more that punish people for being too far away, as that would make it 1. more fairly distributed against melee/range and 2. less probable that I roll 5 impossible melee modifiers together at once

You should try play as warrior its even worse.
I am wondering, at what point does melee fall off? My titan is only level 50, but I haven't had any issues with neither damage nor survivability yet.

As warrior you will already notice it when doing maps (endgame) enemies will kill you so fast that there is no time to react.

Yeah life warrior is much worse.

It never falls off. It will remain consistently bad compared to meta builds. In maps you might notice armour being much less useful.
OP, I hope that your monk and every meta build is punished like crazy for running 75 all res, as I have to have all res almost at 90 to comfortably clear maps on a life warrior while still maintaining rarity.

Imagine complaining about melee and then playing monk .... the melee class that is 3 times stronger than Warrior lol....

I have a Monk and a Warrior in T15 maps and the Monk is so much better its insane

Thats probably because you have no comparison....

Act1 Cruel my meele SSF monk did 165k BossDPS. Which means a 500K Curel Gregor Act Boss took 5 seconds.... my Warrior at the same time did like 24K Boss DPS.

If you trade weapons like every 3h for 1-2EX which is pretty cheap campaign wont be a problem for Warrior either.
But well do the same for Monk and you have 5 times the single Target DPS...
No Cruel Bossfight with the Monk took more than 5-10 seconds while Warrior takes like 1 minute which isnt too bad either unless you compare them

1H shield Titan warrior tank rocks. I'm running irradiated lvl 15 maps with no problem.

I played warrior and its doable.... but truth is: Ranged chars are much less effort for the same result. And less dangerous too. As shield warrior you can get very tanky if you have 0 lag and you are good at timing blocks. But the time and effort you need to kill a boss compared to a ranged that just evades and nukes away nonstop its pathetic realy.

What meele need is not more Damage but ALOT more surviveability to compensate. Armor is rarely usefull on bosses. And the added issue of having to break enemy armor first to do good physical damage, compared to sorceress that just nukes away passivly lowering enemy resistances......

Sorry its just a real balance mess. Is it fun? yes but Balanced....... even diablo IV is better balanced and that says alot since diablo IV is maximum trash.

They REALY need to do something for meeles..... but since its an asian company the solution is also clear. They will just add DPS and thats it.

I agree, but all the good Monk builds are hardly even melee.

That is why Quarterstaff and Monk are so good right now. You only go into melee against bosses to 1shot them with Tempest Bell. For everything else you Storm Wave or Charged Staff + Flurry and blow up 3 screens worth of Breach mobs with Herald of Ice and Polcirklen.

Same goes for Mace Warrior. Every decent warrior build minimizes time in melee by using Warcries, Totems or Stampede. Being static and hitting things is just going to get you killed.

wich defeats the point of playing a meele class.
The devs need to REALY rework that portion of the game. But honestly i have little faith in that. They will rather give meele Characters more ranged skills instead of realy fixing meele.

Even some of the bosses are clearly designed for ranged characters. See the Lava Dude in the forge.

And let me be the fortune teller........ the rogue will not be a REAL knife rogue but mostly throwing (aka shooting) instead of real knife combat. Because meele is something POE2 does REALY BAD. I hate the diablo trash but to be honest..... meele feels better there.

Titan is its own beast, with the right build or gear and good knowledge of the game mechanics, you can do endgame just fine.
He is however only bad when you start comparing it to the top-tier classes.
