not entirely accurate: the skin can only be on one character at a time, but you can turn it on and off for any given character.
I've picked up bundles in the past but they were priced to basically be free cosmetics + the currency to buy stash tabs instead of just the stash tabs.
I've never understood the desire to pay money to change how your character looks, so I'd say it's subject to personal opinion if it's "worth it."
From POE1 I have one of every league's stash tab, all tabs upgraded to premium, and a bunch of extra tabs + quads. It's fun to play hardcore and hoard items so that if/when you die you level up with the same gear except your best gear, and made a lot easier with multiple tabs to sort loot by equippable level.
So I'd say in thousands of hours of playing over 12 years I've spent maybe $100
What this means is that people who can afford premium currency - and want to - will, regardless of the cost (within reason, anyway). If you slash the cost of fancy wings from 30 to 3, you will not get 11 more purchases to make a profit: you might get one or two more purchases, because the people who want the fancy wings will generally buy the fancy wings.
Stash tabs and cosmetics go on sale all the time, too, you just have to wait if you want something very specific.
You dont turn minnows into dolphins by reducing the cost of cosmetics - thats how you turn dolphins into minnows.
Also to paraphrase the rimworld community: "If youre complaining the price is to high, you were never going to buy much to begin with". Catering to the lowest denominator is not how you run a successful free to play game.
That being said, GGG DOES need to offer low-cost cosmetics like transmog consumables (to transfer unique visuals of the same base between each other) and simple dyes that color shift a non-unique, non-transmogged base.
Did someone compare a Marval branded team MP game to indie background niche SP ARPG............
2. Only 1 character can wear a skin at a time, not locked to one character. Big difference. Buying one skin you can just equip it to the current character you are playing.
3. CSGO has skins in the $0.02-$150000 range, with someone wanting $2000000 for the highest tier, lowest float blue gem knife.
4. Convert your currency to stash space like everyone else does, and either play, don’t play, or do whatever. You don’t need a skin to enjoy the game.
You know a fantastic ARPG that is in the same genre of game as POE though, with a great transmog system? Grim Dawn.
They sell skin packs, and those are REALLY cheap compared to everything here.
Lost Ark was the example I gave originally, not D4. As we all know D4 is a cash grab on the Diablo name. Lost Ark at least has the decency to give you what you paid for, and more. Given every single character of my 9 classes in that game has the platinum pack skin and also the lawmaker skin. Those skins even if named the same thing are unique to the classes, so they are heavily varied.
Not to mention the pets and mounts I got with it. Multiple color variations of cerberus, multiple angelic and demonic horses, a weird magic stag thing. The pets are all different.
So I would think I know what the eff I'm talking about when every other game in the genre does better at having a shop.
2. At least that's a positive. Still could be added to an account wide transmog system to make it better.
3. CSGO is.. and always has been ♥♥♥♥ for the gambling practices
4. No I don't need a skin to enjoy the game but it does make me look cool, better than the absolute ♥♥♥♥ tier looks of the armor design they have for the base game. I said it, the armor looks terrible and their artists should never work for another game studio again.
You are not an MTX whale, therefore, not the target audience. If you want the skin, you would have bought it. Welcome to the modern era of gaming. Spoiler alert, they want you to buy the game for $70, buy a $20 battle pass, buy a $30 dlc, buy a $20 skin, and keep buying and buying and buying. It’s nothing new. At least poe has the decency to give you your money back in form of currency for purchasing to play when the game will inevitably be free. Would love to see 2k, madden, fifa, AC, cod or blizzard do that
I bring up csgo, because while you’re complaining about an account bound skin, people pay thousands if not tens of thousands for skins in that game. It could be far worse.
While I admit the skins are way over priced, you don’t have to engage with it. Yea, it would be nice to get a clean $10-$20 skin. But poe1 players purchased them at these prices, so why do they have incentive to change that tactic, when the target is those people, not us, the ones who want 1-2 clean skins for $20 each
Yes someone did compare a free to play game with another *eventual* free to play game. They're different genres but one at least respects the audience they want to achieve. The other (this one) has no respect for you or your money.
And yes it could be worse, like the league of legends $400 skin. Or the Escape from Tarkov $300 edition. Or any Ubislop game.
True the people buying 90 skins don't care about money streamers etc so thats why they are there and they must have the stats to back that up, be grateful there isn't some crap battlepass in the game like most.
