Path of Exile 2

What happened to "No more one shots"???
I thought one of the main selling points of PoE 2 was supposed to be that enemies in maps are actually engaging now but it seems like GGG have completely failed at implementing this? All my deaths in the endgame mapping has been to a random one shot to some stupid BS Jonathan cooked up in his smelly basement and there isnt even a death recap so I have no way of knowing how I actually died.

5 years of development and 12 years of ARPG dev experience and this is what they have given us? What a joke, probably the most frustrating and boring endgame on the market right now.

Maybe you're getting one shot because there's a weakness in your defense ? :P

This

I am running a Monk and have a few resists in the negatives. Either I switch out for the major even or master the 5 D's. So I do both. But if I want to push my skill, I just go with the five D's and just do it. You needs both build and skill with the game and I love it for that.

In case someone does not know the 5 D's

Source to where it was said "no more one-shots." That would be a big oversight indeed since there are bosses that have one shot mechanics.

And btw, there is a difference between a one-shot mechanic and you getting one-shot because you're weak to something.

If you have 0 defensese and 1hp, the entire game will one shot you.

If you're at 1000 ehp and a white mob does 1001 damage, that mob one-shots you.

If you're at 1000 ehp and map modifiers reduce that to 500 ehp, a mob that should do 750 now one shots you. likewise if map mods make them do triple damage, it now one shots you.

If you can't block/avoid AE damage, which is a CHOICE you make for efficiency elsewhere (for some classes an always unfair choice) those AEs can oneshot you.

Someone on the forums was whining about having 1100 hp and "evasion sucks" because they "didn't want to take acrobatics" and were dying to AEs.

This is not the same as the best warrior meta build being titan speed clearing and dying to unfair/bugged junk AEs while they have 7k hps, versus being a warbringer and having 75% chance to block ae damage. The main problem with warriors right now is the choices make always bake in a loss on the other end, for no good reason relative to other classes that get the best of both worlds or trivial downsides (boo hoo your omega ES build gets stunlocked if you pay 0 attention to positioning while having trivial full screen clear with 1 button).

so nah, if you're getting one-shot in maps you're making choices or not avoiding trivial mechanics, and should adjust

I only got killed by that ape once, and it was the first time i meet him, since i had no clue it was HE i ran into to, and not some rando rare.

Getting one shot has nothing to do with your build. So Don't let them tell you otherwise. What is aggravating ; all boss that give you "two to passive skill" have been amp up, over the level requirement of area. So if your in level 25 area and you're about to go for your passive points, that boss is ten levels over yours and the spawns are activated to keep you from fighting that boss.

It doesn't even stop there, you will never find your items to fight the boss, because the game doesn't drop, nothing but crap. All three acts are fight to the next boss. I listen to people scream for help all day long, "thinking to myself," how will they fight the next boss.

He just jumps into screen. It felt like one of those FAFO old school cartoons ... "It's a jungle. What can happen?"

summarizing your post: "I won't give any examples I'll just say no"

nothing you're saying as an anecdote makes any sense. bringing up "your level" has nothing to do with "the level of your gear." People bringing up their level always neglect to mention the level of their gear. People have posted videos of them doing 0 dps because they don't know how to play the game and say "see? the game is unbalanced."

According to you, nobody has beaten any boss or any content. /rolleyes

Conversely, with a tiny budget you can gear up a level 65 character to be gaining 2 billion experience/hr and get to 90 with 4 ascendancies done in less than an hour or two.

You can start a new character and equip them with full uniques and not change any gear until maps, at zero risk of "getting one shot."

But sure, it's not gear. You're just self-reporting your lack of understanding of the game. Why are you arguing with people who have succeeded where you haven't?

They lied to you. Every boss has a one shot mechanic

Bit like the Titan that was just nerfed as it was had a one shot mechanic which wasn't suppose to be in the game in act 2 and was in it for 6 weeks till the last patch go watch quin69 get killed by it in hardcore as many many other people did.

The fact is GGG have said there is one shot mechanics in the game and are intended mostly for end game boss fights same as it was in POE1 no amount of gear is gonna stop that happening to you if you mess up go and google Maven Memory Game.

I do not need to google. I was there when Mario, Sonic, Battletoads, Ninja Gaiden, and Contra tested your memory.
