does vaal orb work?
I used vaal orbs 10 times on different items, and nothing happened every time.
Does vaal orb do anything?

it has the option to not do anything which you can remove by using the omen (of corruption) afaik

It works. It looks to be better than in PoE 1 (bad thing happens less often). Sometimes you might not notice its effect like when it just change value of affix.

but can you actualy destroy your gear or like remove a stat when vaal fails? or do the items just get corrupted without effect?

"No effect" is actualy common. I havnt seen vaal truly removing stat, but it can change value of affix (which is commonly wanted resul on uniques like howa or ingenuity belt) and this change might hit 0 which removes affix (this could currently remove negative affix on some uniques).

It cant destroy item, but it can completly change it while keeping base, so vaaling unique might turn it into rare item.
