Path of Exile 2

Path of Exile 2

Getting totally destroyed in tier 1 endgame maps.
I played through the entire campaign barely looking at guides and I felt like I had created a build that totally wrecked, then I get to endgame and it turns out that I was doing it wrong the whole time. Even though I had really good survivability versus the act 3 cruel difficulty bosses and could absolutely drain their life bars with no problem, it seems like even tier 1 maps are a HUGE difficulty spike.

My damage output is okay, but after reading up on some stuff, I now know that I'm supposed to have like 3,000 HP and maxed out resistances, but that wasn't an issue playing through the campaign. I wish I'd have realized this, because I would have spent more time min-maxing my gear for life and res. Now I feel like I have to go back and spend hours just grinding to get decent drops and that sucks.

The fact that it doesn't ease you into the endgame a little better is a total bummer and puts me off of wanting to keep playing. Is there an easy way to grind good equipment? I really liked the game until I hit this point. I'd love some advice if anyone has it.

This game is simply not designed for people to just make up their own builds.

You also don't need to min max. It's pretty easy to cap resistances through gear from vendors.

Thirdly, what build are you running? T1 maps really shouldn't be that difficult, regardless of your gear.

This game was entirely designed for people to just make their own builds. Where do you think all the builds come from? AI?
Not to mention the first few days after EA released, the game had pretty much zero build guides and thousands of people still managed to reach endgame and dominate it.

Okay, you clearly don't understand what's being said here.

People find the most efficient builds. They didn't design them. They're already in the game, lol. It just takes people crunching enough numbers to figure out what the meta is.

Secondly, a skilled player can make any build work, probably, but your average player will not be able to just put points wherever they want and have success. The game is not designed to work that way, lol.

Maybe next time, just don't post if you're gonna be wrong.

You dont play other ARPG or POE 1 which is why it is not obvious. Maxing your resistance is required but is not a must in T1. I didnt. You dont have to max resistance until T8 and above. You however must have enough dps or enough CC. Budget spark build for example can use that electrocute glove till your mana and dps is high enough to 1 shot.

Im fighting pinnacle boss +2 and until now i never maxed my chaos resistance. I occassionally die from some random crap however.

Those streamer you saw, they are abusing freeze early. GgG realised it and nerf it early, you cant use the same strat but there are similar item that you can use or do.

This is extremely good advice.

I think your problem may be that you just got used to walking through content before this and got careless. Play like you have 1 hp at all times and slowly but surely move forward, and you should be alright.
How? T1 is easier than act3 cruel. If you beat campaign, you shouldnt have problem till like T5.

You dont need 3k HP, its all about the build. I can faceroll t16+2 with 2k HP as pure evasion/acrobatic, beating +4 pinacles in seconds. Some builds runs with 1HP or even 1HP and 0 ES.

Resists? I had no max resist til t15. You dont need maxed resists at T1. You are supposed to be gearing up as you progress thru tiers, not be maxed at beginning.

to make it simple - the game does a 180 turn @ endgame and becomes a 1-shot-AOE zerg and isnt the ARPG you played trough campaign. thats a major problem.
this eliminates diversity and many playstyles - the only choice you basically have is:
want to be a melee, range or magic 1-shotter.
And tbh, it's sad :)

You are wrong.

Theres 100+ viable builds. Just cuz you fight boss for 30 seconds or 1 minute where you have to deal with boss mechanic doesnt mean build is not viable.

Diversity is killed by "i want to kill hardest boss in 2 seconds". Then no matter how the game is designed, some builds will always scale better and elitist approach will force you to pick the strongest one.

Look at any competitive PvP game, top players will always play the same way, use same characters and guns. But it dont make other choices non-viable, its just putting performance as top priority. Even over fun.
Unlike POE1 mapping in this seems super boring.

...Theres always that one guy, Right?
100+ viable builds? give me a break, POE2 is the most linear experience ever regarding skill selection. each class has 2-3 viable builds, no where near what you mention.....
Back to reality please dude

Define viable. A build not being listed on mobalytics or maxroll doesn't make it unviable.

And besides, viable for what? There's plenty of specialized early endgame builds, mapping / breach builds, boss farming builds etc. Generally any half-decent core build will have multiple variants like that.

That's BS. I'd argue that most people cling to build guides not really understanding, what the basic concept of this build is and then wrecking it by putting on (higher level) "wrong" gear.

I'm clearing T6 maps with 2k HP and a huge hole in chaos resist on a warrior, using my own build. There is no real difficulty spike but you won't get away with 0 defense or resistances.

From what I've read on these forums the problem is usually the opposite. People stack too much defense and end up with a zero DPS build. Aside from a handful of exception every single build will die even to white mobs if they just let them deal damage. This is doubly true against bosses and some spooky rares.

DPS is the best form of mitigation because corpses (mostly) do 0 damage. That's why the ranger is probably the most busted class overall right now despite having comparably limited access to defenses.

My guess is that you're probably fighting elites/rares that you don't know what their traits are and blowing up to them, like what other says, T1 should require that much resistances or hp. It's probably your skill tree or your playstyle
