Path of Exile 2

Path of Exile 2

Low FPS - Higher End PC
Samsung Odyssey G9 49" OLED 5120x1440
Z390 Aorus Master
i9 9900k
RTX 4070 Super
Trident Z DDR4 128gb

I get around 40 frames in populated areas, such as the the caravan or when lots of magic / mobs are on the screen.

I run Cyberpunk on max settings with ray tracing and get around 80-100 fps. Shouldn't be a problem to run POE2 on max.

I've ran though just about every article / reddit comment and nothing seems to help. Anyone have any input? Would be much appreciated. TYIA

Most of it are just ugly, fake frames from DLSS ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Afaik PoE2 dont support this clown feature (yet).

You are just living in nvidia illusion world without even knowing it.

i9-14900KF
4090
64GB DDR5

Throttled FPS to 90 due to GPU fan noise (Need to drown this thing in liquid to keep it cool)
Can drop to 40's in T15 Corrupted Maps - if the game doesn't crash as it often does.

Game certainly could use with more efficient graphics, but that seems to be the standard these days.

I tried out Vulcan and other graphics options - a lot less power draw but the graphics are a lot worse compared to DDR12 on max settings using DLSS & DLAA

your cpu is the problem
Your mobo is 7 years old , your cpu is 6, and you're trying to play the game at a massive resolution. Cyberpunk is already 5 years old, so it makes sense you can run it fine, as it only released shortly after your enthusiast-level CPU. Your hardware was good when it came out, but you probably shouldn't expect to play new games above 1080p if you want to hit high frames.
CPU is the issue(bottleneck). The leap from 9th gen to 12th gen intel is a pretty big leap. If you don't have at least an 12900K-F equivalent then you're gonna have issues getting good consistent frames in modern games at higher resolutions.

Did you optimize your Nvidia card through the app? Did you set poe2 to maximum performance on graphics settings in windows? I have almost same setup and get 160 on average with alot less ram

Nvm I just play on 1080p

My 8700k runs at 5 ghz (5120x1440, DLSS Balanced + framegen mod) and isnt even maxed out when i run solo t14-15 maps, my 3070 TI isnt bottlenecked either. The game is a unoptimized piece of garbage when it comes to handling multiplayer carnage framekilling effects because its culling feature SUCKS and you cant hard limit other peoples effects on your screen. Ontop of that the server instances influence your FPS due to tick rate as well.

This stupid game needs a good cpu, I had r7 3700x and had massive stutter problems, last month I got myself a 5700x3d, all the stutters now gone. (locked 75 fps, gpu 6800xt)
hearing people speak about poor CPUs to run this game ... you guys really don't know what optimization is in game dev. This is lazy game dev. on the optimization part of the game.
That CPU isn't really high end anymore.

Though mine too drop from 120 frames to 80 in hectic zones, capping it makes it feel smooth though.

Can't do else than to wait for optimization patches, drop effect quality, shadows and fog settings to ease performance.

>90% of people on steam that say this are too stubborn to admit their system is dated while also having absolutely no clue what they're talking about.

You can simply look at the steam survey results and see the amount of people who play with hardware that is near or passed end of life. The overwhelming large majority then come and cry about "optimization"

If they were right, every game ever is poorly optimized, and its neeeeeever their rigs that should only be used for excel.

I do not directly disagree with that, but as engines develop, you can in essence use poorer machines to run higher end graphics. There's a give an take here, but just look what Nanite did for optimizing mesh and how nanite compares to fully triangulated mesh. This game is really poorly optimized compared to other games. A higher end CPU will help, you are correct, but in the end that is lazy game dev.

1080p@300 fps with 6750XT/5600X and ... lossless scaling :')
<<<<<<<<bruh i use a gtx 970 and a i7-4770k and i got like 40 FPS on jigh populated areas. So funny i can still play most games today qith middle quality.
Well FPS in crowded places like Act2 Caravan is entierly CPU dependent.
It doesnt matter if you have a TRX4090 or RTX2070 GPU

Also nobody gets high FPS in act2 Caravan Homeplace.

7800X3d gets ~ 55fps in that zone. And thats the 2nd fastest gaming cpu on the market after the 9800X3d

Its also ~ 35% faster than your i9900... so 55/1.35 = 40fps is exactly what your cpu can produce in that Area.

It is what it is....
GGG will optimizue this before release but currently everything for you is exactly like it is expected to be

Cyberpunk is GPU dependent so completely different situation

Have you tried to make a custom profile for the game within your GPU software? What you told us is you have no idea how the PC you use runs. Not all software runs fine with the same settings.
