Path of Exile 2

What is going on with the economy
It feels like last week Divine -> Exalt exchange was around 110-120, the other day they were 150, and now they are about to push over 200 ex per div.

Does anyone know what is going on, and how to proceed for trading?

I don't mind spending a div or two on a piece of gear, but now I really dont want to because of how high the prices rose, and I am about to push a char into endgame and need to start looking for trades.

Should I exchange a few divs I have into exalts and hold until the price tanks, or just pray to RNG for a vendor/drop to give me the gear I need due to the massive price increase.

Do not play the market game. The game is still young, the population is small and the market is prone manipulation. The prices of currency are very volatile lately but you can still get Divine for 120-130 Exalts at certain time during a day. There are also other currencies you might want to look at such as Perfect Jeweler Orbs that are often trading at Exalt price below its conversion to Divines. I would much rather spend my Exalts on such trade than buy overpriced and highly inflated Divines. Obviously, that is unless you need those Divines for a trade.

Yea, the divs would be for trading purposes. While I can re-use some gear from another class on my current one, I need to get a weapon, and that would probably cost me 2-5 divs at the moment.

So my thought was to re-invest some divs into exalts, and then when the price drops, buy back divs with the exalts from this. So, say its 200 ex per div right now, trade out like, 3 divs for 600 ex, then when it drops down to 150 or 125 (hopefully), thats like 2-3 divs profit to re-invest into a piece of gear.

And yea, while I understand the market is volatile right now, just based on the current pricing, I cant really justify spending 2 div on a weapon, when last week I could have gotten a 4 div weapon.

Probably over thinking it, but was really just curious if anyone knew what caused such a sudden spike in prices and to try and prepare for when it crashes.

LMAO, the developers said it on the Tavern Talk. We will be getting a few through EA. This is why I find it funny that people are doing RMT in a economy that is useless a few times over in EA and EA itself will be locked in a limbo "EA LEAGUE"

Keep up with the news.

this makes no sense because by this logic next week it will be an 8 div weapon you could have gotten.

one character i have acquired all the gear at about 1-2 div a slot, where upgrades were 3-5.... now it's worth 20-30 a slot and upgrades are 30-50.

Another character, same thing, but now the gear is worth 1/2 of what I paid. good news! upgrades are cheaper too

RMT gives you an advantage and cuts out farming. Someone making X$ an hour has no problem spending a fraction of it to skip farming for many more hours.

Then tie that into streamers who make $ by showcasing the bleeding edge. Some of the most obvious ones start leagues with topend gear, because the arrangement they have with sellers is to pay them off much higher later on, and they farm and accumulate much more efficiently due to it while raking in revenue from streams/vids.

So you saying that "RMT in an economy that is eventually useless" is ignoring the external economies that it is very much not useless for.

There is a ton of hand-in-glove happening here where these streamers also act as PR for the game and offer mtx for subs etc.

You're also ignoring that the way POE leagues work, by your logic, all economies are useless eventually.

Seems miserable to me. But I have the self control to ignore what other people are doing and play pseudo-self found (especially in current state of the game where gamblecrafting doesn't yield consistent upgrades).
Is it some kind of ranking thing? Otherwise, I'm not sure how players compete. I would assume that ranking would only matter to a smaller subset of players. In other words, why do I care if someone has a better character than me?

1- Exalts inflation by having so many 90+ characters doing tier 17-18 maps with 100% MF.

2- More top geared players now actually using divines to reroll the values of their affixes.

3- Divine is now the de facto currency for any good item in the game, everything below it has something important missing (usually low spirit, low energy shield, low resistance rolls or only 1 resistance roll, low amount of +skills).

On your question depends how many you have, I usually keep 300 exalts because often I buy cheaper gear worth 20-30 for alts, buy cores, catalysts, armor scraps and other things, the rest I just trade for divines.

Self control? Yet you had to gate my opinion. Why don't you control yourself and let opinions happen.

Yes, there is a ladder in POE2 and POE1. The Ladder for EA began at EA launch

those ladders means virtually nothing
